I tried to get a VStabi system last year and they would not sell me one. At that time they would not sell to just anyone and said only within their country. Does anyone know if this has changed?

You can get them from Len Mount in England, but Misskimo got a better deal by going direct..(I was told they wouldn't sell to the US either from fear of copying it) I've got one but have yet to hook it up. Mine also has a bluetooth chip that allows you to adjust the settings from a laptop while the heli is in the air. Biggest problem is the software is all in German and the fact that the hookup is a serial port and not USB. Hopefully they will fix that, getting harder and harder to find laptops with serial ports..

hey , still waiting on the post man , been in the mail for around 10 days now , been working on the heli though, getting it ready , and chatting with Ulrich and another friend overseas on what to expect and what to do ,
head nneds to be stiff , hard dampers , but soft can work , with the swash hooked straight to the head , the swash will only need to move about 30% of what it use to move , I need to take off the big round futaba servo horns and replace with shorter ones .

I also cut down one of my titanium main shafts 1 " , but I have to make a new antirotation part to bolt to the head for the 2 rods going to the blade grip

Why couldn't you just keep the standard washout base and cut off the other end of the arms? Lot less work than fabricating something.

Also, you could use a clamp on type of rotation arm for a multi-blade head.

I think you have the swash follower upside down.

Not sure, trying to flip it in my mind....mind is just too tired, though.

I think RCaddict is right, man...

Flip her 180, so the follower link trails instead of leads. It should square up then.

Hate to be a party pooper but did anyone notice the air speed input?
It would seem that the thing needs to know how fast you're going. If that's the case, the sensor tells it how much forward stick to hold with speed, and only one sensor, how does it know how much input to give when going sideways? Now how about hard 3D?

I've done a little work on this subject myself. The idea still needs some work.

> how does it know how much input to give when going sideways?

That question is answered on the VStabi web site. They have found that sideways flight does not seem to have the same issues as forward or reverse flight and thus doesn't need a sideways airspeed reading.

> Now how about hard 3D?

It seems the unit handles it just fine. Heck, someone competed at the 3D Masters with a flybarless setup in 2004.

> What is the benefit of this V-Stabi flybarless.

In theory...
1. Fully programmable "flybar" characteristics without changing anything physically.
2. No power lost to moving the flybar paddles through air equals more power for use by the main blades.
3. Less weight by removing all the flybar associated equipment. Yes, the VStabi unit weighs something, but it is less than the flybar "stuff" removed.

Hey , yep John is right , if you look at the air censor it has 2 inlets , but on the picture it looks like 1 , and RCA and Erichf , its not 180 out , its at a 45 because it cant get completely right under , its on a round shaft , so they split the difference , thats the way the picture shows that came with it
Airwolf , did you see the video ?? it looks like it can 3D as well as fly fast in forward flight , your type with the gyros is close , but it has the affect of balooning upwards in flight
