| What's the skinny on the new LOGO pricing? My question is this:
Can anyone substantiate the rumours?
Is there a date for the price change?
Are any other helis affected besides the LOGO10? Any change in parts pricing for the L14/L24?
I figured it was just a rumour, but it has been repeated by some very reputable people who's opinion I regard highly.
Gary Goodrum from TPPacks writes:
"I hear there will be a new Logo 10 2006 model this spring that will be priced at $199. Evidently, Ralf has finished amortizing the mold costs on most of the plastic parts, and there is also going to be a big price reduction on spares. I'm sure this is all being driven by the Swift's appearance on the scene, but who cares! AeroModel was selling Logo 10s, with an A30-8XL and a controller at the AMA show today for $399. That ought to get a few people's attention.

And:
The other big news is that Mikado has finished amortizing the mold costs on most of the pieces, so there is going to be a huge price reduction on parts, maybe as much as 60%. Of course this is happening because of competition from the Swift, but like I said in another thread, who cares!

This certainly makes sense from a business stand point, the Swift is getting alot of buzz (in spite of the fact that it's a Century product and it appears to have some pitch-up problems in FF) and the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) is coming on strong and thick for the bigger Align product.
Competitive pricing will certainly do well towards maintaining market share. Mikado already has two parts of the hat trick- a quality heli and great service. A price drop, combined with dropping battery prices could spell a sharp up-tick in sales as all the micro and T-Rex pilots (like me,I've got a LOGO10C sitting on my shelf waiting for a Neu...) decide to get something bigger for the 2006 season. Mikado may be seeing the same trend and they're ready to switch from low volume/high cost to high volume/low cost production-
Speaking of lower battery prices, If you haven't already, check out the buzz (on RCG) on the eMoli Li-Ion cells being tested now- you can already buy them (for Milwaukee 28v drills) and fly a LOGO10 for 10 minutes on a $99 7S1P 3000 pack! Most T-rex guys are running $100 TP prolite packs! The kicker is they're round cells, and are more resistant to crash damage...
I love my T-Rex, and it will alway be sorta special to me as I learned to (really) fly on it- but, why buy a T-Rex when you can get a LOGO10 for a similar price? OK, I concede the motor and ESC are a bit more expensive, but there's a big jump there in quality and performance.
I really think 2006 is gonna be the year 30-50 size e-helis blossom- It's a good time for the consumer, and let's hope Mikado takes full advantage of the opportunity as well.
let's hear it for a competitive market place.
