e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Spektrum Dx6 Programing

I have had the Dx6 for about a week now. Not making any headway. This is my first programable Tx. I don't get the swash mixing, what do the settings do when they are changed? IE Ail, Elv, and Pit? I have read all the threads on programing and the manual does not explain what happens when they are changed. Can someone point me to a web page or a book?

Thanks

Do you have a local club or hobby shop where you could seek help?
The programing for the DX6 is similar to the JR662 and anybody with JR experience should be able to help.
Also you might try raptortechnique.com he has tons of setup info for many of the popular radios on his site.

DX6

Oneslim,
I also received a DX6 for Christmas. I'M assuming your trying this on your Blade CP. I understand you have to remove the Rcvr. side of your 4in1 unit, and replace it with the DX6 Rcvr. Then you have to have 2 3" extensions to plug in from your DX6 Rcvr to the throttle (upper) and rudder (lower) ports of your now 3 in 1. Then set up the radio. Is this correct? That is the info Jason from HH sent me. I haven't tried it yet, but he said it works. Jerry

Yes I did the JR Receiver Hack that Ron Osinski wrote up in the Sep/Oct 'Rotory Modeler', just used the Spektrum Rx.

My Setup:
Blade CP
AEK Upgrade Kit, 9T pinon, motor, heat sinks, still using flat bottom blades
Horizon metal swash
GWS DD Tail
Hummingbird 3D Pro Adjustable Metal Head Links
http://www.heli-world.com/Merchant2...Screen=PROD&;Store_Code=H&Product_Code=CNE307A
Century boom brace and Horizontal fin, Don't have the link. Part#CNE018A
E-Power 11.1V 1300mAH 3S Li-Po Battery
http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=30_65

Used Ron's basic setup, but its not right. Need to know how to adjust the swash mixes.

"This guy Ron" happens to be Ron Osinsky, a Factory Rep for Horizon. He authored the article in Rotory Magazine about a JR Hack for the Blade last year.

While I recognize you may of been one of the first to post about the receiver hack, I'm not sure you can call the hack "your work".
It's just basic electronics, man.

jhelfire,

That is the way I understand it - the rudder connection goes thru the gyro and to the brushed ESC for the tr. The throttle goes to the Brushed main motor ESC in the 4in1. I intend to do that but use my CC25 and brushless for the main- the main reason for ordering this radio is that the stock tx cannot control the throttle range. I hope this is the answer!

I just ordered the DX6 today so I hope to find some info on here the next week or so :0)

oneslim,

Reading the manual it seems the swash setting would be fairly straightforward (but I don't have mine yet), isn't it just the % you want in each of the 3 servos? What happens when they are all 100% or what did Ron suggest?

Thanks

catfight,

Ron used 78% Ail, 74% Elv, and 28% Pit. I couldn't keep it in the air, was all over the place. I've changed the Pit to 43%, its a little better. Evo 10% Ail and Elv. D/R 90%.

catfight,

They go in the ends of the servo arms, just ream the hole. Takes away a lot of slop in the linkage.

oneslim,

OK - I thought maybe they were the "pitch adjustment links" but what you said makes more sense - I'll have to get some of those. You don't have to drill and tap? Have you considered the Hummingbird Autorotate gear? That sounds like a thing to do also.

Here's the correct link. They are metal ball ends for the servo arms. Enlarge the hole and bolt on.

Just got a MaxiR, it has a auto gear and driven tail.

oneslim,

Does the MaxiR have autorotate and are you setting it up brushless?
What does the quality look like? And when today are you going to fly it? :0)

DX6 W/BCP Hack

Hey guys,

Just a point of reference...I don't like to post TX values since servo horn length will dictate what numbers will work. I have my BCP's set up with the 3 servo horn linkages IN 1 hole from their original position. I also use the "PAW" like horn, which is the stock horn. AND some horns are different than others too. Some of these stock horns have 3 holes in them and some have 4. Point is...you can be off if you don't pay attention. Mine are the 4 hole horns. I've played with various set ups on this heli and I perfer that set up for my style of flying. Could be why my numbers are higher for Fore/Aft, R/L vs. what some of you may find work when they do the receiver HACK.

ALSO, the DX6 work great with the "JR Hack" I did and wrote about in Rotory. Only thing that is worth mentioning is that the 4in1 has a preset time value where as it looks for ZERO throttle to arm. IF the DX6 takes a little longer to boot up you may have in-consistant arming of the 4in1. Basically the LED will flash like something is wrong and if it does arm eventually t/r trim could be off etc.

SO what I have found works is to turn on the DX6 TX first and leave it on for 4 to 8 seconds BEFORE plugging in the receiver power and or battery. This way the signal is already there from the TX, 2 channels picked for Spektrum modulation, and the AR6000 receiver locks in faster to the TX. The 4in1 will then arm in its time frame shortly after that and all should be good. Nothing wrong with the system but more over just an arming sequence...just like when you create a "seperates" harness and work out the arming sequence to get all the components to play nice together.

I found if I turned on the DX6 TX first and immediatly plugged in the receiver power that some time the 4in1 would not arm as the window of ZERO was missed while the Spektrum system booted up and locked in.

GOOD LUCK and have fun!

Ron,

I really appreciate the input - doubt that at my age I could turn on the RX before 4 secs elapses :0) I guess I also missed the article, what is the exact name and issue - or is the info available elsewhere now? Thanks!

Your Welcome!

The article I authored, "JR HACK", appeared in the Sept/Oct 2005 issue of Rotory magazine. At the time I was writing the article, May/June time frame due to mag deadlines, I was working with the DX6 but could not reveal it since we were still testing it out. That said, an FM or SPCM receiver hacked into the BCP 4in1 was and by today's standards is still a great conversion for guys who want to fly the BCP with their own JR TX.

SO you know, the article was for converting the E-Flite BCP to use a JR receiver with the 4in1 that come stock with the BCP. You need very LITTLE extra items. (2) 3" extensions, a JR TX and JR receiver. The article outlines what you need and how to do it. You can follow the basic article and substitute the DX6 Spektrum system.

Presently both my BCP's are now flying, 1 brushless - 1 brushed with AEK only installed, with Spektrum systems on board. LOVE IT!

GOOD LUCK and let me know if I can help more.
