Okay guys, I'm just about done building my first Heli, a Sceadu 30. What's the secret to getting the ball links to work without all the friction? And what plug should I use for the OS32? TIA.

I am not familiar with the Sceadu but most plastic links are a little tight. You can install them them put pressure on them with a pair of needle nose and they will loosen up a little. There also is a ball link reamer... if I remember you can make one by taking an old ball - rough up the surface with some pliers, then spin it in a drill while in the link. I think that wears them out too much and don't use it.
As for the plug, my OS 32 runs great on an Enya #3

Thanks Mike. An R/C car guy I know said he actually chucks his ball link balls up in a drill and takes 600# sandpaper to them. Not sure whether this would be advisable or not.

This WILL Work

Try breaking in the ball links by putting a ball in a speed drill and turning it with the link end attached. You'll feel it get loose real quick. Stop the drill and let it cool for 15 to 30 seconds then pop off the link and do the next one. Don't pull on the link while cooling or turning or it WILL disform and be crapy.
THIS will let your servos center better. Mine did!

Don't squeeze your ball links. As a newbie also I did this...hence my first flight involved a crash because of a ball link failure. It is an OK meathod if you know what you are looking for, like many of the flyers here, but I would never recomend it for newbies. Just my $.02

Tool

The ball link sizing tool does not work near as well as some of the other methods. Believe me, I own one and my first shot at ever using it was on the Fury. Didn't get everything smooth and had to resort to other means to make the tail slick.

sizing tool

I picked up the Century ball link tool and I thought that it did a great job. You just size it for the ball or close and start from there. It made all mine on my hawk very smooth. When I started they would move like they were stuck in the mud.

Thanks Scott S.

I never sized my links, just popped them on the balls and let them "wear in" in a couple of flights. After that it is nice and smooth, yet no premature wear on the linkages.

I'd use an O.S. #8 on the engine if I were you........
