Installation of boom clamps and tail servo mount.
The boom clamps are split so the clamping action is tremendous! No sandpaper or tape needed to keep the boom from spinning.

Installation of the collective servo mount plate, Yes this needs to be done BEFORE installing the front Battery Tray........

When you have written the manual and put as many together of these things as Chris has ,you pretty much have the manual committed to memory ,,or is that Chris should be committed period ,,,,

Hey Chris, I read in RC Jet International that when you build the Wren-54 from the kit that it's important to "break-in" the fuel pump for several hours by running it before it's attached to the engine and ran? Didn't see this step here, is that still required?

Breaking in the brushed motor that operates the fuel pump is in the instruction manual for the Wren MW 54, and that is part of what I do when building the Turbine. All I do is hook it up to my gas can on a closed loop, using 1 "C" size battery, and let it go until it runs out of juice.

Good point and good question.

Thanks Ozzy, too bad this is a job or I might be enjoying myself!!

The Gearbox for the Turbine is the same Heavy Duty one from the Industrial Twin. The gears are 1" in diameter and very strong. The Input and output shafts are 6mm, instead of 5mm, also hardened for strength.

The hub is also Heavy Duty, designed with 130mm tail blades in mind.

The tail Blade Grips are aluminum, again, not an option. These are what you get with ALL of our models. 2 radial bearings and 1 thrust bearing are also standard.

Grease the thrust bearing ball cage for a smooth working tail.

These are the eyelets, 4mm shoulder bolts, and special ball links for the tail. Trim the end of the ball link down to where the rib starts.

Then trim the rib off to prevent binding at full throws.

Using a small amount of loctite, being very careful not to get it on the shoulder where the eyelet sits, install the assembly onto the blade grip. The eyelet MUST pivot freely for the gyro and control system to work properly. Remember to lubricate this joint at the same time you lubricate the swashplate and washout unit.

Thread the ball links onto the eyelets and snap onto the balls on the pitch slider. These will be adjusted during test flights to mechanically trim the tail in normal mode.

V-Blades 110mm tail blades are supplied with the Bergen Intrepid Turbine. Plenty of tail power, even at 1450 head RPM.

Install the tail blades by holding the spacers in place and sliding into the grips. Tighten the bolts enough to hold the blades still, but not locked in place.

That's one smooth looking heli.

Is this the kind of quality to expect from an intrepid gasser too?

All of the parts you see (except for the Turbine itself) are exactly the same as what comes in the Intrepid Gasser EB, Exactly.

I am pulling these parts off of the shelf as I build this bird, there is nothing special about them (Tony's not a Rep, so he doesn't get the special "Rep" parts!!)

The TT drive on the Intrepid line of heli's uses an aluminum shaft that is torsionally rigid, lightweight, but will not split like carbon fiber tubes. The bearing carrier has 2 bearings in it, and all the connections are with external collars and setscrews.

After cutting the shafts to length, install 1 setscrew in each collar. Pick another hole in each collar and drill through the shaft into the underlying shaft, creating a divot for the setscrew to sit in. This effectively "pins" the TT and prevents the shaft from spinning on the connectors.

The completed assy, ready to insert into tailboom. Lubricate the O'rings on the bearing carrier to make it easier to install.

Secure the gearbox into the boom with 2 ea 3X4 SHCS. Be careful not to strip these holes out. Due to the size of the bearings used in the gearbox, there's not a lot of meat here. As long as care is taken, it holds fine.

I beat all of my heli's around pretty hard and have never had one come off, it is a pretty sturdy set up.

What you don't see yet (we haven't gotten that far) is the vertical fin clamps. They clamp around the boom on both sides of the bolts, adding additional security to the arrangement.

As soon as Tony's fins show up from Ricko's, well install 'em.

Boom supports are aluminum, with delrin inserts threaded and JB Welded in place.

The tail pushrod ends are aluminum with SHCS inserted and secured with a self locking nut. Rocket City Links are then threaded on to the stud.

Let dry overnight!!

Dakine chose to go with our recommendation of the BVM UAT (Ultimate Air Trap). It comes preassembled, ready to install in the rear upper tray.

Duralite offers a package especially for the Bergen Intrepid Turbine, which Dakine also chose to use. 2 ea 4000 Mah packs, a regulator with Fail Safe swich, charger system and battery tester.

The switch is mounted in the precut spot in the rear of the frames.
