I didn't like not being able to see the tank in my first fury so I decided that for the 90 one I was going to get "creative" with the canopy holes.

It's kind of weird looking but it sure let's you see how much fuel is left.
I haven't painted it yet. Those are just pieces of monokote that I put on it to improve the visibility. I'll paint it later I just couldn't wait to test fly it.
[BREAK]

I also made a hole on the side so I could see the 601's built-in voltmeter.

I'll be painting it this week.

Tell me how you applied the moneycote.

I'll be doing a glass canopy here shortly, for my X-Cell 30, and have decided on a white base coat with MonoKote trim. I used pieces of MonoKote on the painted wheel pants on my latest plank project, and it is holding up well so far.

What I did was squirt some Glass Plus on the pants, lay my pieces down where I wanted them, then squeegee out all of the Glass Plus; let dry for a couple of days, then I shot a clear coat over the whole mess.

But I wonder about large, complex shapes of trim, and how they will lay down. I don't see myself getting any more elaborate than what you have here- and it looks good, so how didja do it?

I've got a formula involving alcohol, soap, and MonoKote trim solvent that is "guaranteed" to be the cat's meow for this task- but you know how that kind of deal sometimes works out...

Steve,

I used the self sticking monokote and diluted window cleaner to slide it in place. I did use the iron on one with water a bit of soap and solvent on a tail boom right over the aluminum with perfect results.
What's your formula?

Ah, you used the sticky-back trim sheets. I'll pass on that stuff. The regular MonoKote is much thinner, like those great mylar decals that Concepts came with, and comes in the colors I want. The problem is getting it to stay down. My technique worked on these small pieces on the wheel pants.; dunno how it will fare on larger pieces.

The "formula" is 4 oz water, 3 oz denatured alcohol, 8-10 drops of dishwashing detergent, and 1-1.5 oz of MonoKote trim solvent. Shake well and pour into a spray bottle for application.

I can't vouch for the efficacy of this; I got it from a plank forum and haven't tried it yet. It will be a while before I get around to trying it, but I WILL try it.

Very nice ColeopTer! Can't wait to see it when done! I like the idea of the cut out for the gyro amp, not only can you see the voltage but can tweek without taking the canopy off.

It's going to be in the same neon colors like the one in my gallery. I need those colors to see it and not lose orientation. The main difference is the holes in the tank area.
