Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > DX6 TX/RX Scenario Question

An incident today has me wondering about a certain scenario between this new Spektrum DX6 TX and RX.

Since the TX scans and picks 2 channels when it's turned on then the RX scans to mate with those 2 channels when it's turned on, what happens if the TX is accidently turned off and then back on while the RX is still on?

Does the RX remain on the original channels while the TX picks new channels resulting in a complete loss of communication until the RX is rebooted? Or does the RX sense that the TX was rebooted and re-sync with it?

Anyone here happen to know how this radio system is supposed to behave in this particular scenario?

The receiver will re-connect with the transmitter.

Yes, the receiver senses the loss of the link and re-syncs with the new transmitter channels.

I accidently turned off the TX before the RX and heard the ESC arm

Re-bind the system with the throttle stick in the low position. Now, if the link is lost (by turning off the transmitter) the receiver will drive the throttle channel into the bound position (off).

Go ahead and try this.

pm me if you have any other questions.

Thanks a deal. Nice to see you guys here looking after your product.

This is a really neat radio, the more I play with it and unlock it's little secrets the more I like it. The radio is really simple on the surface but has flexability and depth underneath.

Anyway, I believe we forgot to re-train the ESC to the new radio, plus this was during the initial setup and we hadn't made it to re-binding the fail-safe yet. It was just bad moment for me to brain fart and switch off the TX.

I was curious how the radio behaves in this particular scenario and appreciate the quick easy answers (for me that is).

I'm also wondering if there will be a higher capacity battery available for the TX. It seems to drain pretty fast while broadcasting.

Also if a DSC cable can be used for setup since the RX has that sweet extra battery connection just like the big RXs and if a JR DSC cable will do the job.

Thanks again.

Well I think I found the answer to my DSC question.

I bought a JR DSC cable and gave it a try but to no avail. That's a major disappointment that the DSC technology was used for everything except "Direct Servo Connection" even with the designated battery/bind connection there in place perfect for it.

Cycle the transmitter Nicad a couple of times. You should get more than 3 hours of use with the stock battery.

There are higher capacity batteries available.

You are right. I'm sorry. The TX has more cycles under it's belt now and the battery is now holding up much better. It quickly drifted down to 10.5v but held there for quite some time. I'm a little less disappointed about the lack of DSC ability now. Maybe future systems will feature DSC capability though. Thanks.
