Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > Extending Tail Boom?

I have an idea about trying to swap the Tiger mechanics into a EWTech Black Shark fuse.

I got in touch with someone who stuck Freya mechanics in and he had to trim 5mm off the end of the fuse's tail boom outlet to get the Freya' tail-output to come through.

So, from the Freya's main-shaft to tail output is 36.5", the Tiger is about 31.75"

Any ideas on how I could extend the boom an additional 5" or so? I realize I'd need a longer belt and boom, maybe from a Vigor CS?

Pushrod is no big deal.

Sounds interesting. You could probably use the Vigor boom and at this place to ge the belt http://sdp-si.com/. Just would need to figure out a pitch that would work. I know some guys that are doing the extented booms on the Raptors are using them.

I don't know where Peoria, AZ is but if I'm ever in that neck of the woods, I want a ride! Good job. Say, did I notice you said you have a Tiger? What's your name? PM me if you wish.

how about this boom?

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/By...odID=JRP9830041

Would I use a Polyester or Kevlar type belt?

I'm expecting some spare tail belts and pullies, so I'll measure the pitch and thickness on those.

Your Black Shark has no tail!!!!!

Cool lookin heli.

I bet that would be a pricey heli to do scale.

What do you mean it has no tail?

It's a empty fiberlgass fuselage.

The price on the fuselage is cheap compaired to the $800+ version that Hashimoto and other F3C pilots use.

ok, so far I've figured out that the stock belt is made by Breco and it's a Super Torque Power Drive belt that is 5mm wide, 3mm pitch and 1596mm long.

With the stock boom being 690mm long, this leaves 108mm combined sticking out of the ends.

So, if I went to the Vibe boom, which is 879mm long (I haven't found the length of the Vigor CS boom, though it is the same diameter as the Voyager 50, which leads me to suspect that these booms will fit in the Tiger) ... I'd need a belt that is 1974mm long to work.

So, the stock belt info is a STPD S3M-1596, so, I'd need a STPD S3M-1974 and either the Vibe 90 or Vigor CS tail boom and that will increase my boom size from 690 to 879, plenty & then some to get my tail mechanices out the end of that Black Shark fuse

The real heli has no tail blades, its a double stacked disk( they must counter rotate). At least from the pictures I have seen. So I said it would be pricey to make it true to scale.http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/ka50/

See?

OOOPS, I see the one you are talking about now. Very cool. I liked it since I saw that Hir..guy-kid with it.

Heres another thought...it will take some skill and paitence.

Why not leave the Tiger alone, tail boom and all.

Next cut the tail boom section on the Shark, and fuse them back together with fiberglass strips and filler. If you take you time it wont even look cut.

My .02c, I will leave it at that.

I'd like to keep it 60-sized and this will allow me to run 105 blades on the tail and probably 690+mm size mains. It'll be a monsterized Tiger. The Hyper should be able to handle the larger blades.
