e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Difference between E-sky King and Cool?

Anyone know the main difference between the two models? I'm thinking of getting one to play with towards the end of January, and I'm intrigued to hear anything about them. I know several on this forum have one judging by the one or two threads I've read about them. But they don't get talked about much.

How are the different? And what do you think of them? It seems like the King+brushless+upgraded landing gear = teh awesome.

jsut looking at the different models it is apparent that the cool is a bigger model based on the weight and rotor diameter.

Bigger = More Stable :-)

Good luck

Why is the King more expensive? It looks like they both come with motors and servos?

The cool kit does NOT include the 4x servos or ESC at $120-ish and the king does for $150-ish....

The cool also comes with a slightly larger motor, 380 as opposed to 370 for the king

Crap, how did I miss that? So it looks almost as if the Cool is the king with upgraded landing gears installed? And its about two and a half inches longer with an inch longer rotor diameter. Tail rotors are the same. Looks like the King and Cool frames are incompatible. King uses the same battery hanger as a CP2. The King and Cool share the same main gears and tail assemblies. They share the majority (if not all) the head pieces. Couldn't find the blade prices for the Cool, but it looks like the maintenance costs for both are the same.

Sheesh, the barebones kits are only $1 away from each other. It sounds like these guys would be really close to each other in performance, with the Cool being beefier but the King having a smaller engine. Didn't anyone teach the Chinese a thing about marketing? You gotta have clear stratification in your product line or you just confuse all us guys that are used to it!

The question is, why buy the King instead of the Cool?

Good question, simple answer slightly less expensive and less powerful than the Cool.

RCDADDY forgot to mention that the $118 version of the King does NOT include the 4xservos and ESC (bare-bones), but the $150 kit version does...

In effect your gettin 4 servos and the ESky ESC for an extra $32, not too shabby IMO.

By slightly less expensive, we're talking a dollar. And while it is slightly more powerful, its slightly heavier. So its a wash. That's why I'm really confused about e-sky's marketing here. Why release the King and Cool at the same time? I could see if the Cool were $25 more, and had a few more upgrades, but its a $1 more, but has signifigant upgrades in terms of landing gear and frame.

There is no difference in expense when it comes to parts and maintenance. Unless the Cool's blades are more expensive than the Kings, which I haven't seen either way.

I guess by not making an ARF kit for the Cool, they are steering the newer pilots to the King. But if you have the servos and gear for the Cool, you'd be foolish not to buy it, apparently.

I agree, it is somewhat confusing, however I believe the 380 not only makes up for the weight diff, but also adds overall performance. At least it seems that way if you look at the ESky demo videos, if you compare the King and Cool, it would appear that the Cool is more responsive. I would personally get the Cool if I had to make a choice between the 2. I believe they both use the same blades? but dont know for sure. You may wanna ask Steve at helidirect.com this question.

PS. How could I forget, check out the landing gear set, the Cool looks like it has the optional Kings beef-up set STOCK, another significant plus IMO....

Yeah, for sure the frame and the gear are beefed up. I don't think they share the same blades, because most of the parts are labeled King/Cool, except for the frame and blades. Also, the Cool's rotor diameter is longer, so there you go.

So, I guess if you're a beginner with none of the electronics, and want to save 30 bucks or so, get the King. All others, get the Cool.
