How do you like the belt is it smooth ?

It's fine, I don't notice a difference between the se and the stinger in flight as far as vibration in the tail. The tail blades spin and don't shake, so I'm happy.

Either system set up correctly will run smoothly.
Either system adjusted incorrectly will induce vibrations.

Exactly. I think the only benefit of the belt is it's cheaper and ....uhhh.... its cheaper. I could care less if it was powered by rubber bands as long as it works.

I personally prefer the shaft drive over the belt drive. I seemed to always be adjusting the belt tension on my R50 due to changing temps. Everytime the belt was adjusted the tail servo pushrod needed to be adjusted. My R90 is setup once and not adjusted again. As long as the gears are secured and the bearings are good there are no problems. I know alot of people are ditching the carbon drive shaft and going to the aluminium one. That may be the real issue hear. I don't feel that the crash cost increase is really that significant. It is a 90 after all.

Some arguments are sound and nothing more

The Gohbee belt drive conversion for the R60 and R90 is not out yet. But will be soon.

The belt drive on my Stinger 90 is very smooth and there are no misalignment issues.

In theory, with the belt drive, there will be less energy for autos, but I am not a good enough pilot to be able to notice it in actual flying.

In the winter there will also be the boom expansion and contraction issues.

I still prefer the belt drive, The pototype Stinger 90's had a shaft drive like the raptor, but we then changed it to the belt.

I have tried the belt drive now on my R90SE and so far I have not got it to work good. Even if I tension the belt very hard I still lose the tail in fast backwards flying or when loading the tailrotor. Never happened with the shaft drive with approximately the same tail ratio. It also has a bit of vibration that weren't present with the shaft drive.
Oh and the belt drive definitly robs more energy than the shaft.
