Main Discussion > it finally happened, bad deal...

I've been buying things online for over 12 years and never have had a bad deal until now. I'm just sorry that it happened to be a RR member. I'm not going to mention any names but it would be easy enough to figure out if someone really wants to.
One piece of advice for others buying anything used. Ask for pictures of the item and be as specific as you can asking about any damage. The engine I bought was supposed to be "ready to run" but when I recieved it I found that it had been crashed and the pump will need to be replaced. With the cost of the pump, and another $40 i could have bought a new engine.

Bllade,

Sorry to hear that happened. If you will look one post under yours, I posted that I wanted that motor. If I would have been a little quicker, it would have been me.

I am surprised that he would not work it out or give you a refund.

I have sold a few things on here and bought several. If anyone buys anything from me and the are not satisfied with it, I will give them their money back.

Good Luck!

IMHO,
I've had this happen to me too on eBay on a hobby related purchase.
Man that's a bummer, I see more and more of this happening ,
I don't know why people do this, maybe some strange psycological
reason, thinking it's OK or just plain don't care selfish thinking.
There's really no excuse people know full well what they are selling.
What I do is if I feel a person is guilty or prone to abusive trading I put them on my ignore list here on RR and blocked bidder list on eBay.
I hope you can work something out , but it's a hassle any way you look at it.

You could, if the seller won't resolve the issue reasonably, put a post in the 'good guy list' - but the post doesn't HAVE to say good things. Make it a record of what really happened - feedback there for all to see!

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.

As I mentioned in my PM to you the other day I recieved the engine. I also let you know I was a bit disappointed that there was damage to the pump from either a hard landing or a crash. I removed the pump from the engine today and found that the nipple (pressure side of the pump) was destroyed from the impact and the pump will need to be replaced. SInce you did not disclose this during our Q&A pm's will you either make good on the pump or take the engine back? I did not purchase this engine expecting to need to replace the pump. Let me know if we can work this out.

You sent the above info to this member.... has he responded to you yet?? The right thing for him to do would be to refund you $$'s in full if he in fact did not let you know that there was damage to the engine.. and I didn't see it mentioned in his post either... I did notice that he did not have any pic's available though.... that is one thing that would make it tough to choose to purchase, but I know that I have overlooked it a couple of times as luck would have it all was OK...
I would suggest that you give him a fair amount of time to respond and then if he doesn't post it here and don't be shy... let the other RR members know who he is and what he did... there is no reason to loose what looks like a good reputation over a lousy $200.00...
Just MHO...... Good Luck and I hope it can be worked out... Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

Sad

It is sad that there are people out there like this. There are so many good people on RR and the bad one's make it hard to know who you can trust. Sometimes things go wrong, but all that needs to be done is to make it right. Hope everything works out OK.

Buying and selling on RR and the internet -

Sad news but there are no guarantees. I have come to know a few here that are always helpful and offer suggestions in their area of expertise or sit back and learn from others.

I have bought and sold to a few that have been professional and upright and hopefully I can continue to see the character and product and make an informed purchase.

Ebay has a great feedback tool that lets you immediately read someones personality, especially when they respond to negative feedback they have received.

I guess Mr Mark could do that here however; you could just change names and move.

Too bad my friend - glad it 40 and not 400 or 4000 eh

rkeith2,

You need to reread his post. It was not a $40 dollar loss, he said with the cost of a new pump, he could have added another $40 and got a new engine. The pumps are about $70.

Hi Bllade
Yeah I had a hard landing with it everything should still work great did I send the extra pump I meant to send it, but don't remember if I did...Let me know....

This was the last message I got from Helimanjay when I told him about the problem with the engine. I answered this and let him know that I had not recieved any pump with the engine. It's been over a week and I have not had any response from him.

This information should have been revealed when he posted his ad or when I queried him about it's condition.

I
ll be adding a negative comment in the good guy list about this transaction.

Anyone got a spare pump they can let go cheap??

Bllade I am really sorry about this. Thanks for posting this guy's name. Is it a YS or a OS. A friend of mine has a broken YS. Maybe he still have the pump in working condition. I can ask him.
