I already got mine (check out my gallery for pics). I fly out at Scobee airfield on Westheimer parkway so if you want to see it in action your welcome to come on out. I had some problems with the YS91 so I have sent it back for warranty repair so I will not have a chance to fly before the new year. It is a great heli. I bought mine directly from Heli-Professional's web shop ($1050 delivered in the US). The next batch is scheduled for delivery in February.

I am very interested about cooling system in Revolution. I now it is winter now, but anyone tried it at higher temperature?

Thanks,

I hope soon all you can have a model of Revolution for Reflex XTR ;-)

I've finished the main modelling and now adjusting the photo views and refining the canopy and other parts, I'll post some pictures on monday if I can. Also Zoom here on RR and some friends are helping with model parameters and sound. They sent me the photos too. Thanks again to all of them for their support.

One advantage of my model is that it doesn't care how outside weather is. The cooling system is actually spinning (backwards, I'm afraid), but it never gets hot I'm able to hold my finger forefer on my computer screen Maybe a little rich?

Is there a life outside the sim?

Shun:
I will be out at the field this weekend but I have dropped the engine on the Revolution so it will not be flying. I will probably not have it in the air before January. I got a bad engine from YS that is not producing much power so it depends on when I get it back.

The cooling fan is a pice of art and it produces a very high flow rate. I have flown is in about 80+ degrees without any heating issues.

Here is a summary of my impression of the Revolution so far. The Revolution is made by HeliProfessional out of Germany. They have previously released the Tornado helicopter and the Revolution has the same head and swash plate control system as it. It is incredibly light (9 1/4 lb) and strong. I am pretty sure that it has the strongest frame of all the RC helis out there, you could probably park a small car on the frame without bending it. The quality of the parts are excellent with very tight tolerances. some of the features that I like about it are:
- Very light weight
- Center of gravity very close to the head
- Flexibility of the control system configuration: 120 or 140 deg eCCPM or mCCPM with optional parts.
- Adjustability of the head: Can configure the head (stiffness, mixing ratios, leading or trailing edge blade grip control, etc.) for F3C to extreme 3D
- Parts included to convert it to electric power.
- The tail rotor control rod works by rotation instead of sliding along the boom => reduced inertia => less load on the TR servo => quicker response and longer servo life.
- Simple and quick to build

I got my Revolution from the first batch they released and it appears that they were pressed for time to get it out on time. I had a couple of issues with it:
1. There were some parts missing from the kit. I contacted Heli-Professional and they immediately sent me the missing parts but the shipping took awhile.

2. There was a 0.3mm clearance between the swash-plate ball and the main shaft which introduces a bit of slop in to the control system. I told Heli-Professional about it and they said that this was a problem with the swash-plates in the first batch of Revolutions. They did not have time to manufacture new swash-plates before first shipment but they will send me a replacement free of charge when the next batch arrives.

3. They also had a recall on the clutch bell but you can read about that on their home page. They sent me the replacement along with the parts I mentioned in number 1.

The next batch is due to come out in February 2006. Thomas Maier(Rototom here on RunRyder) is the sales / customer support person from HeliProfessional and he is very good at it. I have had quite a bit of correspondence with Thomas and he has been very helpful with prompt replies. I was a bit frustrated with the shipping from Germany to US which was very slow with DHL (4+ weeks) but they are now adding an option with another carrier for quicker delivery (for an additional price). You can also buy it from CyberHeli for $1300 but it is cheaper (about $1050) to buy it direct from Heli-Professional since they subtract the sales tax when they ship it outside the EU.

The only thing that I don't like about the design is that it is a bit cumbersom to take out the engine. You have to take off the exhaust system and the front tray (6 bolts) in order to get it out. Takes about 5 minutes to do but is a bit simpler on many other helis.
I am very happy with this heli and I love the engineering and innovative design on this heli.

Thank you Christian!

it is always great to read someones impression.
Is there any cooling shroud around that fan? I was looking at the pictures but it is still not clear to me...

Thanks

Here is a picture from Heli-Professionals web site where you can see that the front tray forms the cooling shroud.

Edit: The material in the front tray and landing gear is an aerated (porous) plastic. It has a similar in weight and feel of balsa. You can also sand and cut it much like balsa. It is very unique in this type of application and it works really well. It also encapsulates and protects the electronics.

ChristianM,

I downloaded the manual and I didn't see any mention of changing the rotor head to trailing edge control?
Where did you see this mod mentioned?

How much does your revolution weigh all up with blades, radio, no fuel?

It is not in the manual but I have seen it described in a review for the Tornado which has the same head. Reverse the blade grips and the flybar carrier (or move the balls over to the other side) and reconnect the links and your good to go. This however will change the swash-plate input so that you'll get increased positive pitch when the swash-plate drops.

The manual also only describes your basic 120 degrees eCCPM setup but I have installed the 140 degree setup by using the forward mounting location for the control link horns and the corresponding control link rods.

As for the weight, I do not have a weight that will measure it so I do not know for certain but the posted weight on their website seems about right. I have an electronic bathroom weight but it does not work for something lighter than about 20-30 lbs.

Thanks Chris for his review of the Revolution. I purchased the Revolution the same batch with Chris. I too am impressed with the engineering and simplicity of the machine, and how light it is. The shipping to the US using DHL is horible. You must have another machine to accomodate the wait for spare parts. I crashed mine due to radio inteference, ordered the parts in Nov. 18th, and still have not seen the stuffs.

Another con about the machine is the canopy...I wish Heliprofesional come out with a better slimmer canopy, like the Tornado.

in the Heli Professional web page they have very good 3D schematics of both helis ( http://www.heli-pro.de/ )
(Edited) For the tornado they have only photos.

The rotors and control system are very similar, but the frame is totally different (revo has an all aluminium frame, while tornado has a cf frame and belt driven main gear).

Revolution

The Revolution is a simpler design (no belt) lighter with the new carbon parts that are coming, can be swapped to electric easily and is cheaper.
Same control system and head.

Viva the Revolution!

Cheers from Down Under.
