I got my kit a few days ago and thought you might like my views.

The components are high quality, well finished and fit superbly. It didn't take me long to put it all together and I'm now busy installing the electrics.

Andy at RealRaptors is incredibly responsive. The kit has only been released a few days and he has already revised the manual twice. BTW I hope no body posts "should have got it right in the 1st place"; Andy released kits as soon as he could because he knew we were all "chomping at the bit".

I may not be in a position to fly it until the new year, but so far I'd say well done RealRaptors and XeroG.

Had a fly with Andys (www.realraptors.co.uk) 600ep on Sunday, so impressed with the performance of the machine, I came away with all the necessary hardware, and the frame kit should be coming through the letter box tommorrow morning

275.00 GBP = 487.268 USD For an upgrade kit that I'll still need to buy a raptor kit.

For this kind of money I think I'll wait for the Ion-50.

Optech:

I thought I would reply to your comment about value and having to buy a Raptor kit to complete the conversion.

But first I have to apologize to Mark Ryder as I really try to avoid getting on here and marketing but since I have been silent since April, Mark please let this one slide.......

Dokey is right that once you eliminate the VAT (tax) the kit price ends up being about $380US. So the question is whether it is a good value?

This kit is marketed as a conversion and not a complete kit! It provides a method of converting what is arguably the most popular 50 class helicopter of this decade to electric power. In addition no one can deny that the Raptor flies well, is inexpensive to repair and the parts are everywhere. With the above we have assumed that the market would appreciate a way to migrate to electric power without having to give up on their Raptor. There are a lot of pilots out there who have tuned and "blinged" their machines to their liking and there is no reason that they should have to buy a completely new platform only to start from scratch, hence the reason for the conversion concept.

So the next question is whether it is overpriced? This is what you get when you open the box:

100% US made Carbon Fiber - Silver Color
Carbon Fiber 3D Fin Set,
Black Anodized Aluminum Spacers, Bearing Blocks Tail Boom Mounts etc.
Stainless Steel Fasteners, specially designed "Box" style transmission with hardened spiral-bevel gears, bearings, shafts and we even supply a 9T pinion
All Servo Hardware-including HD arms for both JR & Futaba
XeroG120deg CCPM Metal Swash Plate

The design features include:

Lightweight Construction
Use of the "Box" which allows motor choice from Inrunner to ORKs'
Variable gear ratios 8-18pinion 85-95 main
Configurable Battery Tray
High CG
Integrated tail Servo Mount.

So here's where the 'soapbox' ends and the rubber meets the road.

If you agree that our glow kit was a good value at $279. and you add to it the value of the "Box" at $129.95 (TP Packs Price), the value of the swash plate at $74.82 (Quick UK), the value of the fin set $30.00 (Carbon Extreme- TT prices theirs even higher), the value of the tail servo mount at $23.00 (NHP replacement part), the total value of the parts included is $536.77. That’s like getting an extra $150 bucks worth of high performance parts thrown in the box! But none of this really matters unless its' any good. Please check out this video from Real Raptors and you decide for yourself.

Mark, again I am sorry for the semi-self promoting 'soap box' but I think all manufactures need to be given the opportunity to justify their pricing.

If I didn't have TPPacks.com 's ORK Rappy transformer on it's way for my NIB Raptor 50 SE (and I am very happy that I do BTW), I would be getting a shipping quote right now from XeroG. Very informative post for us consumers and I too hope Mark lets this thread continue.

Merry Christmas all.
