Well I did some thing real dum, I made a deal with a guy named (Cheyenne Gory) for a Raptor 30. I did not hear from him for a few days so put it back up for sale and he finally called and made a big deal about me puting it back for sale and he said he had allready sent the money order so the next day I sent out the helicopter,so when the bird got to him I called to see if it was any problem and to let him know I had not gotten the money order he said it got returned and he would send a new one out anyway three months later I have no money and no heli when i would call he would just say he sent it.now he changed his number and does not return my mail.I sent the heli in September so I give up I never send the product without payment this guy made such a big deal about it being put back up for sale when i did not hear from him and he said he had sent the payment so I went for it like a dummy i am so mad.anyway be aware of this guy he goes by the name of airbornagaine on RCU.

Just a word of advice for any future sales. . .as a seller, I never ship until payment is received. If they pay via Paypal, I immediately transfer the money out of my Paypal account once it is received and then ship the merchandise. This way, you don't get into the situation you're in now and the buyer can't file a complaint with Paypal and ask to reverse the transaction since the money has already been transferred out of your account. It gives you more leverage and protection as a seller.

As a buyer. . .it's the same as always. . .caveat emptor.

If it's CoD, the carrier should collect the money when the receiver accept the item. No?

True, but if the seller is devious. who is to say there isn't four blocks of wood in the box you just paid for. I would never do a COD deal. I operate much the same as CNK, PayPal or friends only.

As Al said, scamming is a two way street. Be safe and deal only with reputable people or you're taking a chance. Before making a high dollar transaction be sure to talk to the person on the phone to get little insight to their personality. If you don't get that warm and cozy feeling just back out.

As far as paypal. Your account is linked to either your checking account or a credit card. Don't think for a moment that paypal won't take disputed funds from either source.

Check the good guy list. Ebay seller feedback. Talk to the person on the phone. Contact people they've dealt with in the past. If you're not 100% happy then move on.

Your account is linked
True, but there's a way to fool them. My PayPla account is linked to a checking account, where no money resides. I transfer the money to that account, from another, when I want to make a purchase. The path to the master account, can not be traveled by anyone but me.

You said it AL..

My Paypal is linked to a $10 account. When there is despute, some how it always gets resolved before I get a chance to transfer money into that account, go figure!

I disagree. I don't think PayPal can take money from your account or credit card without your consent. I won a claim case recently and have only received 1/5th of the money back because the seller didn't have enough in their PayPal a/c to refund to me. All PayPal can do is to lock their PP account and stop further transactions until they pay up.

yes but that is what al just said, the reason you haven't got a full refund is because paypal have taken all the money that is left in the persons bank account, and it just happens to be only 1/5 of what you paid.if the person had absolutely no money in the account at all, paypal would have told you there was nothing they could do and sent you on your merry way! that is a classic example of what al is talking about.paypal will tell you anything to get you to open an account, but once it's open they will do very little to help you.i have filed disputes with them before and they have refused to help me,even when i am clearly in the right, and that had nothing to do with whether the seller had the funds in his account or not.

all comments are my opinion only!

Not really, just attended the school of hard knocks, that's all. I never worry about me, because I know I'm 100% or better. The unscrupulous buyer is the problem. In our business, I got beat for $8800 once. The guy received the parts, said he didn't. Visa /Mastercard charged us back. Nothing we could do, except make sure the chargeback path was short, in case the iossue ever came up again. Unfortunately, the dirt bags of the world , force the good people to think like a criminal.

I don't believe Paypal can go into your account and remove money without your consent. That's just like saying a credit card company could go into your account to remove money that you owe them on a overdue bill. The only time funds can be removed without your consent is when there is a mistake made on the bank's part. In any case, my checking account only has $20 in it unless I've transferred money into it to make a payment.

no paypal CANNOT remove funds from your bank account without your express permission. they can however reverse funds you sent out to your bank 3 to 4 days prior (it takes 3 to 4 business days to complete a bank t-fer)

Which is why I transfer money out of my Paypal account into my checking account the minute it is received. I then ship out the following day. By the time Paypal transfers the money, the shipment is still usually on it's way so I immediately transfer the money from my checking to my savings account. Also, Paypal can reverse the transfer, but that's only after the complaint process is completed. This process takes about 30 days from the time the user initiates it. They then give the seller time to respond to the complaint during which time, all funds in my checking account have already been transferred out.

There are always ways to protect yourself if you think about it. Even when buying via Paypal, I always use a credit card so that if Paypal fails to get my money back, I can have my credit card company reverse the charges.

Maybe you should read the Paypal agreement a little closer. That's EXACTLY what you agree to when you link a bank account or credit card to their system. Essentially, by opening up an account with Paypal you are de-facto granting permission for them to withdraw any monies they deem appropriate from your linked account to satisfy transactions they determine you are responsible for.

This is why the ONLY viable protection is to link your Paypal account to a bank account with little or no money in it.

If that is the case, then why is it with the past 2 complaints I've filed with Paypal that they were not able to retrieve funds from the seller? I had to reverse the charges through my CC company instead. That leads me to believe that they don't have to ability to go into your bank account or credit card to do anything without your permission. For example, if they tried to charge my CC, I would simply call my CC company and tell them that I did not authorize that transaction.

bad sale/purchase

i,ve been ripped off by a seller earlier this year, and i was so GLAD that i paid for it with a charge card. i had $1675 dollars hanging in the wind for two months before i even recieved a small portion of the deal. ROTOR-SHARK hit it right on the head.... pay -pal sucks! they didn't want to hear a thing once i told them that i recieved a small portion of the items bought. they said that AS LONG AS I RECIEVED A PACKAGE ...I WAS DONE. thank god i used a charge card and they checked my story out and sided with me , in part by going with the weight of the package verses the stuff that was supposed to be inside. i also always keep all email transactions on file to prove what was said in the original or evolving deal. be advised that the pay-pal time limit is 60 days and charge cards are 6 months from date of transaction to date to file a claim. .... with a checking account ,you are on your own as far as a claim goes. larry
