Where is the best place to buy the Esky Lama 2? I see they are running $120 in ebay, any place besides Balsa Products carrying them in the states?

I bought it at ~US$85 http://www.tymodel.com ( model shop in China) but may not ship oversea. Good luck.

Try this site in HK http://www.flying-hobby.com They can ship international but sell at ~$109. If you can go directly to his shop, he also sells at ~$85. Haha

Found it here for $95, I emailed Hobby Lobby to see if they will do the price match bit (competitors price -10%).

Since shipping from HK runs around $30.00 or more I doubt it.

On another topic, I see a lot of reports of Blade CX's with broken flybar heads. Anyone with a Lama-2 break theirs?

On their website they don't mention that the seller has to be in the US. Shipping from Hong Kong is $22. Even at that the price is much better than they are offering.

the fine print at the bottom of the low price guarantee page, "This offer does not apply to auction-based websites, foreign based companies, radio systems or radio components and is not retro-active."

Keith,

I have been reading a lot about the Blade CX breaking over on RCG.
Something about the head being hollow and weak. I have been staying clear of comparing the two cause there is a guy over there thats gets defensive when you mention how much stronger the Lama is built in that area.

Im expecting my Lama 2 tomorrow.

Yeah, I wonder if there are just more of the CX's to break or if the Lama is a bit stronger. From what I've seen the CX does have better heading hold, and the Lama is a bit faster. At least comparing the CX my friend has and my Lama. BTW, he broke his flybar head in a very minor crash.

New Lama II

Well the fedex guy brought my lama a few minutes ago.

First impression just looking at it in the box. What a p.o.s.
I thought to myself its a good thing it did only cost $117. Anyway loaded up the tx batteries, and had a hard time figuring out which way to turn the lipo and get the little case back on the right way and not break something had me scratching my head.
Finally got it on. This little heli seems so fragile when holding them.

So I applied some throttle and slid around and noticed it needed a a lot of right rudder. Finally ended up all the way to the right.
However I went ahead and before you know it Im hovering around quite nicely and now Im thinking differently about the little thing.
This is gonna be pretty neat. Hovered till it ran out of juice with what came in it and now to figure out how to get the rudder centered up.
I believe this heli will get better as things loosen up a bit.

So, I like it. Looking forward to flying around. Gotta get another pack or two though.
I gotta take this to work where there is HUGH room!

34ford, is that an Esky Lama you've got??

I've just ordered one after trashing a very dodgy KA-50 co-axial model that I bought off ebay. It had a sliding swashplate and was unflyable.

Also excuse my ignorance but what is a Blade CX??

I believe they are a mechanical copy of the Twister Bell 47 (available here in the UK not sure about over the pond), just with the Lama body.

Anyone got a number for Heli-widows, my wife wants to join!!

Received the Lama 2 (Christmas present for my son) and flew it last night.

All I can say is that it's fantastic

The KA-50 I had before was totally unflyable but this is a little beauty.

I agree with 34ford that the heading hold is a little poor, you need to keep bringing it back straight and the moment you alter the throttle then you need to compensate with some rudder again although I never needed full rudder, the trim was sufficient to keep it in generally the right direction.

Also, what is the best orientation for the battery and tray combo?

My Son's gonna love this, and I'll use it to practice nose-in during the winter.

Merry Christmas everyone...........
