I just want to take a minute to tell the members of runryder thanks for all your input on my posts (Old fart,Voclain etc..)!!!! After researching all brands of Helis to great lengths on this board and a few others I have decided to go with a Hawk IV

I ORDERED the following from Helicopter World:

hawk IV arf w/os32 sx
PG2000 IIR gyro
= $329.95 for all (saved $25 over sport $160 +os32 $115 + gyro $80)
Futaba 9cap pcm w/4 s3001 (i have 11 planes and 1 heli) $439.95 = best price i could find anywhere!!!!!!
hawk bearing upgrade $22
realflight G2 $190
remote glow plug adaptor $10
hitec HS-525BB for gyro servo $30

Grand Total = $1022

Now I will list the reasons why I made these choices;

First and formost I wanted to make my first experience flying a helicopter as enjoyable and easy as possible and after reading hour upon hour of posts on all different helis I found that the posts on Century helis seemed to have the least amount of issues compared to all the rest!!!!!

Second Is I love great customer support and after calling all the big name places (no names needed) for prices and info, I found hands down Helicopter World world blew the doors off all the rest when it came to giving advice and info to a newbie who didnt have a clue!!!
Not once did they try to get me off there 1 800 line and trust me i had alot of questions!!!!!!!!!!! I tried to do the same else where and got short answers and was told this 800 number is an order only line!!
Funny heliworlds add says order only line too but I got all the help I could ask for and them some (THANKS BRIAN AND DENNIS )

I got my order today and am completely satisfied that I have made the right choices off equipment and who to do business with!!!!

THANKS HELICOPTER WORLD I AM A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE

we shall prosper

All right, that's great, just keep pushing your self on the sim before you fly your Hawk !!, it will show if you do !!,,, don't worry about crashing on the sim just fly it as much as you can, I have over 120 hours on my sim and I still crash it all the time,,, try to get about 50 hours on the sim before you fly your Hawk, I had 70 hours on the sim the first time I flew, I know 50 hours sound's like a lot, but it will save you MONEY,,,,

Good luck !!

Ask a way !!

Simulator

I agree with the simulator issue though I would not make a measurment for time required in hours. I would practice on the simulator until feeling comfortable with helicopter orientation and recovery. Once you can regularly land the d@mn thing in the simulator after a few laps You're ready for your model.

choices

Mike

Sounds like you made some good and educated choices. It is by so doing that one can discover "diamonds in the rough" like the Hawk Sport.

Enjoy yourself....this is one great pastime.
