Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Avant for Evo 50

I just read the full review of Avant FX in MHW issue Dec. 2005, which reminds me the possibility of "Avant for Evo 50".
I have always liked the design very much, eccpm, bearing blocks, engine mount closer to C.G. and etc., which changes the bird into an aggressive 3D machine.

I would like to see one for Evo 50 soon, anybody knows when will the conversion kit be available

Thanks,
Patrick

Do a search, this is well covered. There won't be one.

Thanks eurylokhos,

I am just too exciting when I read it, forgot the search first...

The problem is that I have passed basic 3D and moving toward advanced maneuvers, I feel that the plastic frame and controls are not rigid/precise enough. If there is a mini Avant, I definitely will try it.
Maybe Augusto can borrow some major design from Avant for Evo 50, that might as well be great!!

Plastic not Rigid or precise enough... I don't really think that is gonna be a problem. Look at all the people flying Raptor's and Evo's to the max! Even the big Raptors and Evo's have some plastic content. The Evo 50 is one of my favorite Heli's to play with. For some precision and control check out any of Pete Niotis's flights with an evo 50 or Paul Liason's flights with an evo 50. I know the Evo 50 is more than capable of doing anything I could want to do with her. If you want to move to the next level, I'd reccomend getting a 601/611. They have a much more consistent piro rate, and will help you learn more piro manuevers easier. Instead of the where's the Avant 50 posts... could we have a "Where's the YS 50's???" posts

There are CCPM conversions for the EVO 50 and the Raptor 50. I'm looking into them myself. I heard the EVO one is made by Hirobo!

One of the companies offering CCPM for the Raptor 50 also makes a bunch of carbon parts for it too. Do a search for XeroG or Xero G. However, I've not seen any "glowing" reports so far.

I know that CCPM alone doesn't make it an AVANT but it does lower the parts count and gives you 3 servos moving in unison. It can't hurt!!

There is an eCCPM conversion available for the Evo made by Hirobo. Two local pilots that fly with me converted from the manual setup and really liked the results. It's not for everyone, but if you want to see what eCCPM can do for a ship without changing the airframe you're currently flying, this is a good option.

The eCCPM conversion for the EVO 50 does not lower the parts count. It has just as many levers and bellcranks as the HPM (I have both). Unless you just really want a CCPM EVO, there isn't any significant advantage to converting (notice that I call it a "conversion" and not an "upgrade").

This thread has a response from Augusto about whether or not they'd do it.

How about some good, non-biased (or as close as possible) REVIEWS on these items?

I would LOVE to have a CCPM Raptor or Evo 50 (or even 90) but everytime I get close to pulling the trigger, I hear negative things in bits and pieces. Not much but enough to give me pause.

I know CCPM can be a pain, but I still want to try it.

Thank you everybody for your inputs, I will keep the dream in my mind
the aftermarket carbon frame kit looks good, but it's not enough for me. Avant 50 is still my obsession.

If you are into 3D enough to want a 50 size Avant, why not go up to a 90? 50s fly great, and can do anything a 90 can, but when it comes to AMPLITUDE, the 50s don't even come close. Rainbows close to the ground with collective pumps thrown in for effect are AWESOME with my EVO90, but put me to sleep on my 50....

yes, 90s are the way to go... but the cost (fuel, blades...) gets much higher, I do not have that budget at the moment.
I am just hoping that Augusto won't abandon this project totally in the future...
Doesn't it sound good that we can have a heli like Golf GTI, instead of big-blocks

Thanks,
Patrick

Augusto has indicated in the pass that the biggest reason for the Avant 50 not to exist is COST. The 50 upgrade kit would be exactly as much as the 90, and that would detract many people from buying it. Face it, $380 for a Evo50 kit plus $580 for the A50 kit, thats 960 guacamoles without the hyper and the mandatory JK Hatori or MP2, Ah yes, add some nice really fast & tight servos to make the CCPM crisp as a Dorito.

Nah, I'll just buy the bag of Doritos and watch a real pilot like P Soha fly his.

I have the SWM version of the EVO 50 and it is perfect in fast response of the Collective and cyclic. It is execellant in foward flight with the stock paddles and no weights on calm days but is quite pitchy when it is windy. The only thing i can see to improve the way the heli flys is to get more power to make it feel lighter,to give it that simulator feel making things easy to do. Certian blades make it better in making it feel light but usually make auto's harder to do with little reserve.
We have used the MAH 605 blades which fly really good but dont auto well. we have also used the NHP 600 razors wich also fly great but dont auto well either. TT blades auto very well but suffer on cyclic response. V blades also auto well but really load the engine unless you lower the pitch curve to compensate. Overall the flying quality of the EVO is the best of any 50 i have flown. DOUG
