Really wondering if the A30 10L can take up to 6S Lipo, it seems that it is 14 poles motor! I am surprised that the little Mega 16/25/4 can perform this well. Anni, is it getting very hot in your 6S setup? If it is very hot you may need to be careful for its lifespan!

The Hacker a30-10L wont handle 6 cells because its max rated rpm is 20,000 rpm. I tried it anyway and it got EXTREMELY HOT within less than 1 minute of flying and it didnt sound very healthy spinning that fast.

Running 6 cells would put the rpm on the motor up over 26,000rpm. Also in the packaging it says the motor is only rated for 3-4 cells.

The mega 16/25/4 motor isnt really a little motor, mate. Its a speed 480 size motor. However it does indeed get hot (like all mega motors i have ever run) and on 6-8 cells you should use a AON cooling fin on it. This keeps it within acceptable operating temp ranges for me.

Most people flying 3D on this machine are using this motor and so far there have been no complaints or issues i have heard. This of course could change but im quite happy with this motor on 6 cells in terms of the power its delivering.

new skids

crashed my ep8 last weekend. I went to visit Mr. Watanabe to buy parts , I know alot of you guys are changing the skids to raptor hybrids but just so that you know the new landing skids he is making are 2mm aluminum sheet as compared to the 1.5mm specd originally, you probably wont be seeing these new thicker parts until the old stock has dried up. He showed me a drawer of the old versions and one of the new, and he sold me the new thicker ones.

how bad?

crash wasnt bad at all, but the parts I needed was pretty much what I expected. I had to replace the main shaft, the spindle shaft, the flybar (it wasnt that bad, but, while Im at it...) one skid, but since Mr. Watanabe showed me the new 2mm stuff I bought both sides and the most expensive thing... the blades. He was out of stock until next week,

Just a word of warning that you may have heard already....

Dont run more than 2200rpm with the 21 tooth tail input gear (quick calls it the tail counter gear). I had a mishap at 2400rpm where the tail rotor oversped and caused a tail shaft to bend. Damage was light and im back in the air again but that was pretty scary and it could have been much worse.

There is a 25 tooth slow down gear and this i suppose is what you want to be running on it if you are going to run 2300-2500 on this bird.

Hello twinring,

You damaged your main blade in th ecrash, but not th emain gear? The main gear is the most expensive parts of the heli body! Quick says because that is a CNC made main gear!

Is QJ-8's 120T main gear complete the same as Janpan's EP-10? Porbably not, becaus the different dia. of main shaft I think!! I am hoping to get and receive my New QJ-8 kit with SLOWER tail counter gear before end of this month!

The main gear is expensive, but the nylon composite its made from is very hard but not dry, it was fine. Im not sure about the EP10. This crash wasnt bad at all. but the damage was more than Im used to. Im going to spend more time on the simulator and flying my Honey Bee King to exercise my skills.

what Next?

this is all new to me... I have only nightro, and gassers untill now I have built a Qj8 I am now down the the power train set up ...... help battery, I have a Tanic 4 cell 2450 mah 14.8V2450. A30-10 L brushless motor. 15T pinion gear. 2.0A/5 hv bec. Quark33A brushless esc

two questions

what kind of performance should this set up give me?

is there a diagram someone can provide to me to get this set up.?

Good pictures!

It looks like we cannot use is big (wide diameter) motor, or it will interfere with the servo arm right behind the motor.

I can only hope to receive my EP-8 V2(QJ8 V2) two weeks later, so can you tell me what is biggest diameter of the motor that can be installed on this EP-8? Thank you!

i emailed ep8 tech-support and fwd' your question. their response was:

37mm outside diameter with 15 tooth pinion. You can shorten arms slightly to use a smaller pinion if you need high voltage gear ratio. You must also use optional motor plate with proper bolt spacing and raises the motor up to flush with the frames.

Hello guys..
FLYTECH.. was wondering how you mounted you gyro on the top? Did you cut a piece of metal plate for it to sit on or what.. Also the boom mount servo is that the KSJ-770 one?

gyro was mounted on just the two boom mounts. either strips or single pad will work.

the ksj-770 looks exactly like mine but am not sure on the diameter. i think steve @ dream hobbies if you call him will be able to tell you exactly.
