Battlercon,
I like what Im seeing, Im running a full size servo on the tail, if Im not mistaken is that what you have on yours? is there anyway that you could just use another RH side frame on the LH side to eliminate the tail servo mount on the frame? Dont mean to undermine your design, its just that my tail linkage is now too short and I like it that way. Im not sure how much that would affect the structural integrity of the design.

Yes that is a 9253 yes you could use 2 right panels it would basically put it a V1 frame minus the TR servo mount

Oh yeah i also installed a 6V output external BEC to speed up the servos a bit and also took this chance to install the slow down gear for the tail (since my kit is a version 1 kit). Very happy with all the improvements.

Flytech,
are those the upgrade frame panels that hold a full size servo? Been wanting to get those but they are quite procey.

Twinring,

No thats a stock machine with the tail servo mounting area cut out a bit to fit a 9650 servo. Its not a full size.

Flytech,

This is Gary Goodrum's machine. It hasnt flown yet but here is what he has on it. "I'm using a Hacker A30-12XL, a Phx 45 HV, a UBEC, 3150s on the swash, a 401 and a 9650 on the tail."
He also is planning to run 8S1P on this motor. Im also interested to see how this combo works out. I know he had some problems with the motor and the swash linkages tho. Think he had to do some slight modification to get everything right. Its all over on the RCGroups QJ8 thread if you wanna hunt it down.

this is what I was talking about. Its 2mm sheet. notice the motor mount is a long machined piece that goes all the way to the tail gear.

Here're the pieces assembled

If anyone knows motors and esc's its Gary. He seems to think this will work great and deliver incredible power to weight. With this motor it has a kv rating in the high 800's i beleive so it will actually be spinning at around 21000rpm

What motor would be good for sport flying? I have a bunch of 3s 2100 prolite packs already and would like to use those, either as 3s2p packs or 6s.

I sometimes use 1 3s pack but I have to use a different set of radio parameters to get the head speed up. 6s would be no problem with the Hacker 30/10L that I now have. Used to run a HiMax which turned out to be junk.

For people who has Prolite 2100 be careful to use them as 6S1P in EP-8, it may not be an good idea to actually use that as continuous 15C pack, it is worth your time to read here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467825

There isnt much to worry about. On 6S1P this heli isnt going to even draw 10C constant. Mine hovers at less than 8 amps on 22.2 volts so constant draw at 15C probably is not an issue. And anyway people are already using them on TREX 3 cell setups which draw alot more than 6 cells on this heli. The important thing if you read the whole thread you pointed us to that seems to be the issue is not discharging the cells below 3.3v per cell for maximum life. So run the Tp prolites all you like but dont fly them to LVC and time it so the resting voltage is 11.1 - 11.8 volts. The higher the better for the longevity of the pack.
