hi,
the double sided tape on my gyro has cut when i was in the air!!
anyway i was make a safe landing without crash.
really what is your opinion? the tape is original from futaba and the gyro is mounted like the manual say in the front of my benzin (on the plastic)
its failure of double tape? its vibration? and if yes what can i do ?
can i use tiraps to cacth the gyro or the vibs is moving to the gyro sensor?
thanks

I clean the area that I'm going to attach the gyro to with acetone. It removes anything that may keep the tape from sticking. I also don't use the tape that comes with the gyro. I use servo tape from the hobby store. Since it's thinner I have to use to pieces but the end result is a gyro that won't come off.

I have great results with a 2 stage mounting on my 401s and 502. I think some other members on RR use this system also.

I make a plate about 2-3mm larger than the gyro base out of 2.5mm Dural sheet (what I had left over from making plank engine mounts). Then stick the gyro to this with 3M thin foam tape (get it right first time!). The plate is then secured to the mechanics with double sided, thin neoprene tape (about 3mm thick) in four 10mm squares, one at each corner of the plate.

This method sticks like crazy, won't separate like the futaba pads and is very cheap to do. I just change the neoprene tape if I need to move the gyro and keep the gyro stuck onto the plate. I have also tried carbon but the extra weight of the Dural seems to add a bit of stability to the gyro.

Hope that's helpful.

Antenna

Flying Tivo the antennas are made by RC Direct in San Diego. I just started testing them on helicopters. They are a self adhesive stick on antenna. I use the Lexon as shown in the picture to attach it. On the airplane I tested it with the Stylus radio, with the transmitter antenna completely collapsed. ( On the Stylus it has one segment sticking out when I call it collapsed.) and the airplane as high as I could see it with no loss of signal. We use to use the deans and had a couple break off the circuit board, most likely due to crashes and using them over. So far I have only 20 flights on this set up, and waiting for a crash to see how it holds up.
