I ordered some Hurricane blades (for my Falcon) from this Century dealer I have been buying from, well he could not get them, so I bought some Go Quick (all Carbon 600) blades for $85,,, well, while in loops they felt smoother and the heli was faster in the loops too, tracked nice and straight too, the extra speed of the heli while in the loop caught me by surprise,,, I only got in half a tank then it started to rain,,, I can't wait to get the pitch dialed in !!

Jim,

I'm running 600 MS blades on my Falcon and I sure like these. I have V blades on my bigger helis but have found that the MS line are pretty good blades to use.

Let us know more about the Go Quicks.

Ray,,, I like my Go-Quicks

Go-Quicks,,,
My heli is faster in the loops, and smoother all over too, seems more stable in hovering,,, but they are the only all Carbon blades I have flown !!

blades

Jim - Ray,

Check your blades for "leading".

Hang both blades from your work bench (I usually use two old 3mm flybar held fown by some weights) so that the trailing edge of the blades at the root are just ready to touch each other (trailing edges facing each other, leading edges facing outward). Then let them settle down and stop swinging. Then measure the distance between the trailing edges at the tips and compare them to the Hurricanes or even the inexpensive FunKeys and also to the new Rotor Tech units (these are all very dynamcally stable designs).

As a rule of thumb, the smaller the distance between the trailing edge at the tip, the more stable will be the blade dynamically.

The more unstable the blade (to a limit) the quicker cyclic it will have.

A better way to get quicker cyclic reponse is to use a stable blade and get increased cyclic response by tuning the rotor head and flybar system. This way the stability in FFF remains, the stability through the varying rotor speed in an auto remains, trim remains more constant right side up and inverted and a faster cyclic for aerobatics is accomplished. All while keeping the workload of the flybar system and control system to a minimum.

Speed is generally a function of airfoil - e.g. a semisymmetrical can be faster then a symmetrical (all else being equal).
