I have a Funkey Twin Star Fuselage, My question is do I have to add a plywood reinforcement to the floor for mounting to the mechanics?
Thanks

I would say YES. You can't just mount the mech's to the fiberglass, it is not strong enough to hold them. Cut a piece of ply to fit the bottom of the body and cut out the right size air exhaust for the cooling system, and I would use fiberglass resin to coat and glue this in place. Then mount your mech's to this plate.

Check my website to see the woodwork I made for my Funkey Long Ranger. There's a step by step process listed....

If you’re talking about a 30 size Funkey then these are designed for a shuttle to be bolted in with no woodwork. Other mechanics will properly need some wood.

What mechanics are you using

I would make a frame/platform no matter what size you're trying to install. This gives a nice foundation for the heli frame to be securely attached and utilize the strength of the fuselage.

As Mark said, he's got a great description of how to build a nice frame for the 46 size with raptor mechanics that I'm sure could easily be adapted to any other. Also, The_Dave's got a some updates that we used on our last two Long Rangers (Airmed and Careflight) on his site (www.rotorbreak.com).
