I worked on the effin' double humpty bump all weekend. I'm finding that if I come cruising at at warp speed, the model goes vertical for a LONG way which is great for doing the half roll on the down line BUT, if I do that, I cannot get the model to go back up while inverted. My best results were achieved by coming in at about half throttle and getting moderate vertical, hitting the down line and rolling as fast as possible, then easing into the negative pitch and allowing the model to get back as much vertical as it can before flipping it and doing the final half roll. I am struggling on the last roll as the model is usually not quite vertical as I am rushed so it rolls funny. IF I come out of the flip vertical, the roll is OK. Anybody got any tips to make this easier?

Hi Gordie,

I know what you mean. The part of your post that seems wrong to me is where you talk about easing into the negative pitch on the half outside loop part of the maneuver. The problem I've had with this one is not digging into the negative pitch hard enough to get the model to climb like it did on the first half. I've had a similar issue with horizontal 8 (cuban 8, sans the rolls!). If we can't get enough altitude on the second vertical line, then the roll will be rushed and the exit, totally ugly.

I wish I could offer something usefull beyond "burn more fuel." We're all going to have fun with the "flippin' " pullback. I love the name they gave that one. The biggest problem with it for me, is giving a pure forward cyclic command all the way through the maneuver. The model is usually reasonably straight when it gets to the inverted part of the flip. From there on, it's Katy bar the door!

Plucking Fullback

I am finding that if I keep the speed down on this maneuver, the model tends to go through pretty straight. I usually only need a minor TR correction as the model comes upright. Problem is I usually out the darn thing in the WRONG WAY and it looks awful.
On the double humpty bump, I was tending to get into too much negative too quick and killing all of my forward speed so the model would not go up for the second bump. I still am not happy with my approach to it. There may be a better way.
