Hi there,

Recorded some video with my Optio 5sz camera hanging underneath the Eolo. Nothing spectacular but it is kind of interesting listening to the Eolo in action (Twist 37, CC 45 governor).

You looked nice and the motor sounded healthy
Can't wait fly mine, (3rd bearing is not arrived yet)
Fly couple of minutes without 3rd bearing should be ok?

It is no problem flying without the third bearing unless you plan on doing some extreme 3D. I have done lots of flying without it and only installed one after I crashed it

looks like the optio setup is working well, and somebody is just having too much fun !!

can't wait to get mine up and running

how much memory did that video take?

Seems to me that the concern about the motor interfering with the camera did not pan out, at least in your case and hopefully mine too.

I'm kind of set on building a nose mount for mine, any comments? The only bad thing I can think of is that the underslung mount might make the whole heli more stable (bigger rotational moment of inertia). Underslung would be easier to build too. I suppose the underslung setup might also be better for isolating vibration?

These little cameras seem perfect for mini-electric camera rigs.

I'd like to see some stills from your new setup.

keepin' it real

Hi Stet,

The original video was about 75 meg (AVI file) but it also included a minute or two with fiddeling on the ground before take off, the downloadable video here is about 8 meg.

I also took about 100 still pictures (I usually just turn on the gentled and let the camera take pictures every 4-5 seconds), and there was plenty space left on the 512 meg card

It is so dark here in norway now and I havent figured out how to take pictures when the lightening is less good, so most of the pictures was kind of fuzzy. I am still waiting for a day off when the sun is shining - of course today is a nice day but now I am stuck at work

I am very pleased with my underslung mount. If I just trim out the Eolo before flying it is very stable in the hover, and as you say an underslung mount can be isolated for vibrations by letting it hang in rubber bands under the heli. The weight is no problem at all with this camera.

Cool vid. Can you do some loops with your setup or will it be too heavy?

I guess loops could work, but the camera mount is hanging under the skids to isolate it from vibes. Looping and acrobatic stuff would make the mount shift back and forth
