143 days without rain and it finally rains during the FF. You've gotta love that Murphy.

Flying..

Yesterday was cold and wet but we managed to get some airtime (between the sprinkles) and completed the Novice and Sliding Auto contests!

The rain was pretty steady starting around 3pm...so we had to scrub the night flying event. However, I know some folks flew on Thursday & Friday.

Today is clear blue skies with a bit of wind. I'm posting pictures in my gallery.

We did night flying on Friday night. Mike Gruol got his Raptor 90 all lit up and flew it around a bit. He let me take a go at it too... First time I did night flying with a heli.

I just wanted to post a thank you to all the pilots who braved the weather last weekend. Our pilot count was down over a third, but we still had 61 pilots who made it out. Everyone who attended was positive and seemed to make the best of it (someone out there probably has pictures of Bret flying under the umbrella Saturday morning).
I also would like to thank all our sponsors: JR Horizon, MRC Hirobo, Kyosho America, Great Planes, Aero-model Hacker Brushless, Arizona Heli, Glowme.com (yes this is a real name), Insane Foamies, Model Avionics, MTA Hobbies, Rick's and YS Performance. Additionally, thanks to Mark Ryder for coming out and posting some great videos.

Again thanks to everyone!

Thanks Eric!

As I mentioned in Mark's coverage post of the event - what a blast! You really smoothed things over very well for us. The weather just added to the charm thinking back on it now! heheh.

Thanks to Paul for the pics that I just rec'd out of the MAIL! I just finished uploading a dozen pics from that scary flight in the pouring rain! Thanks Scott for being a nut and holding that umbrella!

more in my Phoenix FF Gallery...
