e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > Jeremy Morcom flying a 6s in a T-rex - Video

Hey guys,

i was checking out FlightPower's new EVO20 packs (30C bursts!) and stumbled across an amazing video of Jeremy Morcom flying his T-rex on twin 3s1p packs, to form a 6s1p configuration.

Here is the video:
http://www.flightpower.co.uk/TRex_6s_Sep_05.wmv

His setup is:
2x Evo20 3s1p 1200 as 6s. Castle Creations Phx 35 and Mega 16/15/6 on 13t pinion.

here is a pic of the setup:

The higher the voltage the better,! I fly a 6s set up also, I have some crappy pictures in my gallery,

Whats the approximate weight of those cells, and how do you balance it?

I fly with a maxamp 2100 that weighs in at a hefty 180+ g
and to balance properly would have to add about 30g to the tail.

Thanks,
Greg

gregh,

The packs weigh 120g apiece. The FlightPower guys have some pictures of my heli on their website showing how they fit. The heli is a little nose heavy even with a long boom fitted and but i can't say I really notice it much in flight. Hope this info helps

Jeremy, are you running a Rx pack as well or are you using the BEC ?

That's the same setup I am using, except I am running two TP1320 packs in series, and a 15 tooth pinion. Scary power.

I3DM - I'm not using the ESC BEC - I've fitted an SBEC which is a great little switching BEC - weighs nothing!

Dankers - ESC is a CC Phoenix 35. AUW RTF is 830g

ScottH - Take a look at his thread.: http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t206816p1/

It gets rather sidetracked by a discussion on pack temps (btw the run-in Evo 20s never get above 110F) but I posted it because my Rex was transformed by a switch from 2 x 1320 3s to 2 x Evo20 1200 3s - nothing else changed on the heli. I was originally using 2 x TP 1320s in the heli shown in the video and it was really only capable of mild 3D. Admittedly, my TP's are 2 years old and so aren't the latest Gen2 cells but even so, there is no comparison between the two setups - my 1320s show severe voltage sag as soon as the current goes above 9 Amps

I have a 16\15\6 with polyquest 1500 3s packs, I have a serries connecter soldered to the speedcontrol, I run two 1500 3s packs for a total of 6s 1500 mah pack, Ballance is a none issue is stack the packs vertically and run the long boom with the long blades, PERFER the sab's!!!! the mavericks have spacing issues!!!!!

i run the CC 25 with the medusa bec, (small one) NEVER had an issue:; as the amp draw in hover is below 10 amps, and can't get it to go over 15 amps holding it back in my hand,

The RX is a 146 PCM , I run a 401,

IT WILL NOT BOG!!! I run as much pitch as the bird will allow on both collective and cyclic, It is a mean machine,

J2M,
I am running the Gen 2 packs, they barely get warm, with tons of power. I believe they are good 17 amps continuous. I'll see how they hold up. I am also using the Jazz controller, which seems to supply the motor with more power than a CC controller.
