I am also filing civil charges for the damages. I can give a relative power of attorney as I have relatives down in california, I am old so my uncle is ancient lol. I had a long talk with the investigator at the district attorney's office (can't wait to see my phone bill haha). She was very helpful and instructed me on a few courses of action. it's no fbi matter, but being able to start the investigation here with the rcmp, it makes life easier. (I just took my job back as mobile supervisor for a security company, I have to swing by the police station now anyway, we also run the alarms for the courthouse across the street....should see that maze haha)

next week I am taking adds out in his local newspaper. I just have to be wise in the wording.

and thanks again to those who have called or emailed him. and feel free to ask for my help if you have a problem up this way. I hate thieves. especially summers I travel a lot. stopping in some remote place wouldn't be so hard..

update

I got a letter from the operations division of the Novato police today.
the Captain has called the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force and spoke to their supervisor (not sure if I should put their names, so I won't).
She is going to advise me on what to do from here, and the police will assist where needed now if the NCCCTF (long name) requests. Just waiting for the letter from the DA to take to our RCMP and present the documents. I can also add these new contacts for them to the lists.

it is a very good day for me. and maybe a lesson to be learned for scammers.

keep a copy of all sent and received emails until the transaction is complete. I think my pack rat mentality paid off for once

okay I got the paperwork today from the DA's office. This is for the Consumer Protection Division. This is the mediation process involved to get the civil suit filed. Now if I could only get paid and get a battery in my car, I could drive up to the RCMP station and finish filing the paperwork. any day now it shall get done. I have been working so much overtime just little free time to get paid from my other part time job. stupid battery died trying to go to work 2 nights ago and they had to come pick me up. no worries, it is pretty much a conclusion now that I have all the paperwork to file.

Sounds like a lot of work!
I have to admit, i havnt had anything go bad with anyone off runryder, infact everything i'v bought has come thru better than expected

But i have to say, if something went wrong it'd proberbly take a ****e sight longer to get anything done over here

Oh well, will proberbly cross that bridge if i ever come up to it...
But yeah, have to commend your determination... as far as i see the chances of recovering anything that goes sour over here are pretty remote...
But yes, thanks you people like you, scammers get their comuppents

well your right,in our country you would probably get only minimal help from the police,they would call at the house of the offender or somthing,ask a few questions,then make it clear that he should send the heli,then hopefully he would get scared and send it.if on the other hand he simply lied and said that he sent it by an unregistered postal service and that they must have lost it somwhere,then it is very likely that our police would give up there and then,and say nothing more could be done to help.

I finally have some days off to get back at this. pulled some marathon hours (I've had 2 days off the last 2 weeks, driving 12 hr shifts and such. last 5 days it has been so foggy at night, I was driving by stops I had been to 400 times allready lol).
I have to see the rcmp office tomorrow (going to sleep shortly). the paperwork to the D.A's office I want to take my time and lay it out as clear as possible.
I also wrote the computer crimes division and saved all the emails as a webpage and uploaded them to a server so she could read them over, and see the contract, the tracking info, the adds etc etc.

What I can't understand is how this arsehole can justify not shipping me the heli, or at least the boat. No matter what, he owes me something, and I will collect either goods or money through the civil suit (since that is strongest right now as the evidence is presentable as it is without investigation needed, other than tracking his ip to his provider and seeing if it originated from his home etc. the computer crimes people probably allready have that info lol.

I have also talked to the manager where I work. it's a security company, and they have an investigation division. I just went back as mobile supervisor, and they are working me to death. karma thing. I am bailing them out when they are in trouble (though they know to leave me alone for 3 days, it was a bad weekend haha)

GOOGLE "Charlie Wenzel" this POS tried to take a 4x4 guy for $25.on a pair of gears. then it turns out that they're NOT"bran F-in' new " (sic) but used! over 700 posts and 1.3 MILLION HITS. A-HOLE WENZEL paid up and apologised.
NAME AND SHAME- it works! If all the decent people close ranks and "out" the baddies,they will have to behave or stop trading on the net
this thread was posted here by someone else,some time ago,but due to the dossing of "pirate 4x4.com" by people following the Wenzel saga, you now have to join in order to read the whole 70-odd pages. (and the umpty ump pages of the apology thread! ) NO-ONE with an IQ over single figures will ever try to screw with these guys.......look &learn

Just an update. Paperwork filed and waiting on that. I also found this guy has an ebay account with that email. I don't know the username but you must be aware that he is trying other avenues to rip people off now. I did a member search with his email and it proved positive, though they won't release the username. that said I wrote the fraud dept of ebay to warn them about this user

he has probably allready tried, if not completed, selling the heli to someone else by now. again I ask any help would be appreciated.

Something needs to be done. The answer is to KEEP PUSHING. If people are willing to confront the baddie, they should DO IT. Even to repossessing the goods and returning them to the wronged party. Most opportunist scammers will back down when confronted with a real person.
Meanwhile,Keep niggling nicely at the police. they're PAID to uphold the law. In UK it's common for them to give any brushoff they can come up with,to avoid involvement in these sort of cases. Short answer is civil court action-over 90% successful.
Your /US police will have "higher priorities" UNLESS they are persuaded that it's in THEIR interests to act. do your homework, find how the command structure works, hint that you may have to go up the chain if things don't get moving..... If necessary, start a civil case yourself.
It appears the police have accepted you have a valid case,so you're halfway there.

I to date have gotten nothing back from this guy and I am owed an rtf raptor 30 v2. the radio was just a skysport and I have since picked up a 7chp with a hawk sport so I can fly again.

anyone feel like giving someone some christmass jeer? (I know a fellow in chicago just called him). this jerk just started a new job in Novato and I would love to know who his new employer is so I could give them a call and warn them they hired a thief. they might want to watch his activity

I have filled out all the paperwork, and still waiting to hear.

Wow, this is dragging, I wish you had better news, like you got your money, I am not sure I would want the heli or radio or anything from that guy.

It really only takes a few POS to make the whole community worry about dealings.

I mean what else can you do, short of driving to his house, and when you get there, what could you leaglly do? nothing, you could get arrested for stepping on his property.

I guess there is always other things you could do to him or his property (car, house, apt, etc..) but nothing would get your cash back.

I feel for you, and I deal allot on the internet and everytime it is a crap shoot, I do all the standard checks, but sometimes those are meaningless.

I guess it is a matter of time for any of us.
