I didn't see a fuel filter on your t50 you might want to put one on there it might save your engine!

Hutch,

I filter the fuel before I put it in.
Got a filter in the draw tube of my fuel bottle. Good enough for me. I don't have an air filter though.

Hey I had an X-Cell Gasser. I would rate it better than a Tiger 50 wouldn't you. And it's possible the Raptor is an overall better machine. I wouldn't know. One thing for sure is there isn't a lot of people that own Tiger's that are calling them junk. Some of the better machines are actually more troublesome.

Good point on the filter. I didn't think about the exhaust. Will add one.

Hutch DUDE!!!

How can you state without conviction that a Raptor 50 is better than a Tiger 50 when you haven't seen one let alone fly one?

"What I don't know can't be any good otherwise I may have to punish myself for missing out"

I would personally love to have both a Raptor and a Tiger for a little change, not to mention a variety of electrics out there.

Ok Hutch let's keep this civil.

I understand why Cranium would post on the TT for and here. To get get differing points of view.

If you have a valid point to make, just make it. Personally I don't see it as starting an argument. He asked for opinions and some of use gave him some, myself included.

I'm not out to fuel the fire but Cranium asked for some opinions on a T50 vs R50. If you have some positive points as to why he should purchase a R50 please do so.

Telling someone to grow is not going to sway him towards a R50, in fact I think it may have the opposite affect.

And yes I have owned a Raptor.

I Am With Raffy!!!!!!!!!!!

I like that idea..... and I like is so much because that is what I did...
I bought a V2 50 when they came out and gave it a go..... flew if for awhile and just did not like it's feel for my flying style.... if you can call it style!!! But then picked up an Evo 50 when they came out, and that fit much better, and I still own that one... but I did sell off the Raptor to one of the guys in our club, and he loves it.... and why not, it is an excellent machine for some... Then I ran into JB at the Toledo show this year and I liked what I heard and what I saw... so I tried a Tiger.... I like the way it flies and now instead when someone asks me what to use to learn to fly with , I now tell them that the Tiger will fill the bill.... and the Tiger gets the most fuel run through it every weekend because it is just as smooth or wild as you want it to be... and it makes me look good, so I am keeping it!!!!! And that is my story and I am sticking with it!!!!

Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

Since the subject of filters came up, I was just thinking. If we filter the fuel going into the tank and are concerned about debris from the exhaust, why not just filter the pressure line. Personally I have stopped using filters on my nitro trucks because they sometimes develop leaks making the engine go lean, and have never used a filter on any aircraft in my 25 years of flying.

I'll admit I'm not a great pilot, but I can hover with the best of them.

helishop

aircraft you mean airplane ?
r/c cars & trucks can't fall out of the SKY no big deal .

No Filter on your aircraft ? for 25yrs uh ok if you say so...How many engines have you been through.

But In a heli you might rethink that.

I have never had a filter leak ! They get replaced before that could ever happen!! Besides it is very cheap insurance!

Basically the reason I went filterless was because a few guys posted about having more trouble with filters than they would have liked. I'm talking gasser though. No presure line to the exhaust.

Those Sullivan clear tube inline screens can't leak. I did have them on my gasser.

Cranium I didn't think you had pull with John Beech to have the Advertisement Compare the t50 & R50... I suppose I should have spelled it out for you the comparison has been posed LONG before you asked the question HERE..

You are absolutely correct. I misinterpreted what you were saying. My apoligies. I thought you were making a comment on the thread I started and was wrong. Instead you were just hi-jacking this thread to complain about what has already had several threads of their own. . I'll remember that about you so I don't make another mistake and upset you.

Cranium You Posted the Same Crap on the Thunder Tiger Forum Mark Ryder Doesn't like Double Posting For this Very Reason!

If you feel I have violated RunRyder policy then by all means you should report me. But as jvanscoyk pointed out, I was trying to get opinions from both sides because I knew each side would be biased towards thier helis.

Well guys,

I made my purchase today after talking to a LHS employee for 4 hours today. I took half a day from work for just this reason.

I ended up walking out with a heli that I didn't expect. It was the Hirobo Sceadu 50. I was putty in the hands of the LHS employee and he talked me into buying the same one he had.

It was a bit more expensive but was told I would not outgrow it. The employee that was helping me, of course, owned one and was showing me his. But he was also experienced with the Tiger and raptor.

I'm still not 100% positive that I've made the best decision but I think it's the best decision for the experience and information I was able to gather so I'm hoping for the best.

Thank you all for you help and feedback (except for hutch964 that is)....just kidding hutch964, you represented the raptor group well and I'm sure make them proud. I think I'll be trying to get some test flights on a Tiger & raptor for comparisson once I've had this one in the air for a bit and who knows, I may be expanding my fleet even more. This hobby is way too addicting.

I'll be keeping in touch on this forum because I find this to be a great crowd.

Cranium,
I've been following this thread and the other one on TT section.

Very sensible & intelligent decision you have taken. Open mindedness always helps. Wanted to reply, but with all the brand politics going on, didnt bother. Just remember, even with EVO you will have small issues, just take your time to dial everything (the clutch hub/fan) when assembling, will take you a long way. Those evos are sweet. (I dont own one, but we have about 4 in our club)
