Looking to buy a new coptor. Which do you feel is better an EVO 90 converted into an AVANT or Tempest?

I flew the freya evo 90 than flew the EFX Avant and I can promise you that there is a huge difference with the EFX. I fly the Avant myself and I went from the xspec to the avant so I have lots of experience with these machines. As far as the tempest, that was the original machines I flew than switched to hirobo and never looked back at the MA stuff.
I'm not trying to sell you on anything but do your homework.

I am also looking at an Avant, so I will be following this..

closely. But my decision is: 1) leave it an X-Spec, 2) convert to Evo, or 3) Avant. That said, I have done a lot of business with both CX and MA, and there is a night and day difference in customer service. Not to bash MA, but how often do you see Tim on here answering questions? I am sure some people get good customer service from MA, but when I had mine, I couldn’t even get my phone calls returned. How much better could customer service be then Jeff Green and Augusto? So, even if both helis were equal, and I don't think they are, I would have to go where I get the best service.

It would depend on the level of flying you do. The quickest, most nimble, lightest 3D machine is the Avant...hands down, not even close to second place.

OK I am starting to believe this but do you sacrifice some stability ... or should I call it tracking not strait. Like I asked other places - My Tempest is faster in cyclic than my CS but I prefer my CS by far over the Tempest due to the way it tacks. Tempest is a lot more all over the place. If Avant is quick but track worse than CS I will wait for Vibe - YES it can still be a long wait!!!

What does your Avant weigh sans fuel?

I have had just about every heli out there, I can say the Tempest and the Stratus are very good solid machines. I have 2 Stratuses now and love both of them, one with fury head, and 2nd with Tempest head. But I can say my Avant out 3D's them tons, its like flying a feather, point the stick and it gose. At this time I have converted my Avant from an X-Spec and have put the EVO head on it to see how it fly's, but I'm still waiting for parts from Augusto to finish the conversion. Then I will buy a Evo kit and the new EFX Avant. Hope this helps.

I have had a carbon tempest with tempest 3d head , two stratus, and both were in at a light 10lbs, one of my flying buddies flies hirobo and is also an accomplished 3d pilot, he also has an avant in this weight. The stratus is fast and nimble, while helis are not designed to crash we all know they still do! The stratus is extremely weak. MA parts are not cheap either! With an avant most crashes cause freya parts to break, but if bad enough how hard will it be to get parts from two diff manf. All of these fly GREAT! What are your abilities and wallet allow. I fly hard 3d and love the ccpm punch and response, I know fly a raptor 90 with some head upgrades and VERY fast servos to get that feel. My crashes are a lot cheaper! I still have an extreme but it just sits there for now. I think you should take the one that appeals to you.

Gordie, mine is at a few oz heavier than 10 lbs. I have not tried to get lighter but I could loose a few onces with a lighter muffler, lighter skids, etc.
