can any one tell me which servo the szabo brothers run on their collective for the 90, also what voltage they use this at 5,6,or 7 volts

The last time I think I saw what Alan was using was, 94758 Airtronics servo and I believe it was regulated at 5.1 volts ?

His reflexes are fast. Kyle Stacy is another. You can have the fastest servo there is, if you can't move the stick fast, the servo's speed is a moot point.

What is he using on cyclic for servos? What type of pitch is he running. 700 or 690 blades?

I hear that his radio and receiver have a lot to do with the speed that's seen in the servo reaction. The servo is a fast one but getting the frame rate out from the sticks through the receiver and to the servo says there is something with the radio and receiver he uses that are suited especially for getting the most from the servo.

Not to take anything away from Alan. He's a master of timing and collective management.

Well here it is. Right from Alan. this info is from Feb 05

Just to let you guys now the posts that you are reading from my dad are comming up on a year old now. So i wouldnt really use those as a reference. But heres my current setup as of 2.14.05 (V-day)

Primary machine:
Raptor 90 STD with the following:

All upgrades are TT

Metal Hub PV0334
Metal Grips PV0335
Metal Washout PV0290
Metal Flybar Control Arms (two separt arms) PV0396
Metal BellHiller Arms PV0295
Metal Upper and Lower Bearing Blocks PV0287/PV0288
Metal Horizontal Fin Bracket PV0318

And minus the carbon base plate

All those parts are available at MTA.

Thats the machine itself. By using the Metal Flybar control arms you have to space the arms out further so the Bell Hiller arms clear.

In that machine im using a stock O.S. 91 C-Sec PS with a curtis MPII with a gear ratio of 8.27. 690mm V-blades (180grams) with the collective set at +-11 degrees. 105mm V-blades for the tail and the 90mm V-blades paddles. All airtronics 94758 servos except the tail because of the 601. Also using the Rev-Max with the head speed set at 1850. And for the battery system im using the Duralite 4000mah with a 5.1volts regulator.

Thats the machine you might of seen in the (Sunday at the Lake) video.

As for my current back up machine im using:

A stock Raptor 90 SE minus:

The large aluminum side stiffeners
The carbon base plate

With the same equipment as the primary machine. I wouldnt reccomend taking off the aluminum side stiffeners but its something i wanted to try.

well guys just alittle info about Alans servo set up,
i bought hes video and i noticed he sets the ball links on the outer most hole on all the controls same for the ruder but being a futaba servo you have to use one of the cros like servo arms,as for throtle it really depends on your engine set up

i think it is to get the most speed and deflection out of the servos
i hope this helps

At the end of the day you'll see that it just doesn't matter how you setup your heli. We can put anything we want into ours but only practice and a lot of fuel will get a heli flying like his.

The other down side is that there are those with natural ability. No matter how you setup you equipment, how many hours you practice, there are very few that could even come close to his ability as that of many of the great pilots.

Building a heli stock using standard equipment and then burning a truck load full of fuel is the only way to get your "servos" to respond like Alans do. There is no trick or hidden menu. You either have it or you don't and only hours stacked on hours stacked on years will tell you if you have da stuff.

Didn't take me long to realize that I probably don't but that's ok. I just like to build and fly. No competition for me in my future. I build, I fly, I crash, then repeat.
