Is it the Quick of Japan EP8 or the Chinese copy from Pennsylvania? If you are not sure, send me a couple of pics. If it is the Q of J model, you will love it. See my gallery for pics of mine under construction.

If you look back a bit there have been "problems" real or percieved in the past with Irwin and his little heli that could. I'd look over the posts, maybe give him a call, and make up your own mind.

I'm wrong no matter what I do, so I might as well have fun doing it!

Not a Copy but truely orginal....

Dear Quick Helicopter Fliers....

I wish to set the record straight, the helicopters from QWW are not copies they are the originals. The fact is that we are the ones that designed and engineered the originals and have since moved on to a new facility and partners. We continue to make new products every year and continue to innovate with ever impressive improvement. My case and point here is that Quick of Japan continues to make a 5 year old helicopter. We have since improved performance and strength of the kit with the new EP8 and others. If you haven’t done so already please visit our website and see the latest designs.

Wish all of you happy flying.

Ive met Mr. Watanabe of Quick Japan here at his tiny shop here in Utsunomiya Tochigi Ken, Japan twice, he sold me my EP8 Which he still refers to as an EP not a QJ, and he has shown me some new parts that proves that his product is evolving, and improving. When I see photos of the EP8s outside of Japan and the ones sold here, like mine, I can see many differences, such as the milling of the main frames are different, many new parts are made from 2mm aluminum sheet rather than 1.5mm. all of this talk of who is who is really confusing, me, I must be unaware of the diferences between the JDM Quick and the export Quick, but ive been to the shop, and I really like what I see. I realize that he doesnt make all the parts in that tiny little shop, but he does finish alot of the parts there, which makes me realize that he is dedicated to the quality of his product. One of the biggest problems in Asia is that there doesnt really exist any sort of effective patent control, which would make any manufacturer not based in China weary of doing any source contract work.

The QJ name was adopted in the US by the US distributor to help limit the confusion between the two brands and dealers. I have talked with Mr. Iyobe (the owner of Quick), and he is very proud of the name, and I would be too, especially if I came up with it. It's basically marketing in the states that dictated a "name change."

I got my QJ-8 heli from helicopterhobbies.com. If people think that a all aluminum heli with ALL CNC ALUMINUM machined parts is outdated, maybe you should think of it as 5 years ahead of it's time! It was between this and the joker heli's $$$$. At around $299 I think I made a good choice for 1st Electric heli. This thing is VERY well made. All the screws in the kit are socket head cap screws like the high dollar gassers. All the parts that can be CNC aluminum are. It may be called A 5 year old heli but that is by people that made the wrong choice. Go to the site if you don't belive me and look at all that bling. WAY MORE BLING FOR THE BUCK, You do know what bling is right?

Amen, hotrod. I've had my QJ8 since August and love it. Only crashed it once and the rebuild was definitely within my budget.
Don't know where you got all the socket head screws though. Mine had mostly Phillips head screws. Yours might be newer. Actually, If I recall correctly, I did get one of the last ones before some changes were made. Lucky you. By the way, I have some build picks in my gallery.

I am now working on a QJ16V2 which is another beauty. I can't wait to get this larger bird in the air.

If anyone wants to see more pics, go to helicopterhobbies.com.

Ive never heard anything positive posted about the QWW service, but most are happy with the way it flie's. The problem appears to be customer service or lack thereoff.
The QJ heli's look amazing for the money, I for one love all the metal. Classy.
The only thing I dont like is the heli being almost entirely blue on the upgraded model. To much blue in my opinion.
Please post some pics and your opinion on the QJ16 when your done, not much posted about the 16.

If you bling it, they will come :D
