e-E-Flite Blade CP mCX CX 400-3D > Symmetrical blades better for FF?

I recently upgraded my Blade to Lipo and intially installed the symmetrical blades. I ran with the symmetrical blades for a week and started to wonder if I could possibly get longer flight times by using the old flat bottom blades I ran when I was using the stock battery.
Anyway, long story short I was not impressed with the performance of the flat bottom blades versus the symmetrical blades when running Lipo. It seemed to fly slower and I didn't experience longer flight times as I had hoped.
I swapped the symmetrical blades back on today and I'm about to go flying on this perfectly calm fall day
Anybody have any insight on flat bottom versus symmetrical in non 3D flight?

The reason you get less flight time with flat-bottom blades is because they're thicker and have more drag. Symmetrical blades have less drag and give you better response.

symmetrical b.=less time fliying.

Hello, i have other history, whit the flat blades and lipo (etec 1250/ thp 1320, 8 tooth pinion, and direct drive motor) i get 15 to 22 minutes fliying, i have good perfomance, no 3d only "real" fly (i put the flybar collar in the midle), today i change to symmetrical blades (carbon), and the time drop dramatically, yes the heli become faster (response) but i really enjoy more time in the air and less time charging

I'm charging batteries....

I think this has already been debated, but I have yet to hear a deffinative responce. Flat blades thicker? I suppose you may be correct. I don't have a caliper to measure them to be sure. However, the symmetrical blades require a higher angle of attack for a given RPM to generate equivalent lift if my experience.
No doubt in my mind, though, that the symmetrical blades are the way to go when running lipo. Just wainting for the weekend to go pick up some CF blades. Can't wait!
