If you are refering to Petes Hobbies in Michigan, do not worry. They are likely traveling to or fro a Funfly, and will get with you as soon as they return home.
They are good folks.

Well,

Must be just me I guess that I ordered some items from a place just short of two weeks ago that has not updated his website from when he went to a event in April. I thought that if he would have been out of the shop, he would have posted it on his web site. And yes after 11 days I called and sent e-mails with no replies, so yes I have some concern. Being I need the items this weekend, I will just order else where and mark this up as a learning experience.

Thanks,

Charles

Many vendors in this fringe hobby are small one or two person operations. There is not enough hours in a day to accomplish all the things required in a small, often part-time, business. Nor is there the profit to hire good employee's to share the load. Pete's Hobbies falls into this category.

If you need something instantly I suggest you talk to the vendor to be sure they can meet your requirements.

Pete is one of the good guys. He will not steal your money.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks Tom,

As someone that has been a vender in the model train hobby I know how much time can be spent serving the customer. Now I have a small landscape operation I run on the side and have less time then I did with the train operation I like most people do more shopping on the net when I get a chance during the day and do not spend the time for one on one contact when I buy something. I just got used to ordering from other shops that have the staff to respond sooner.

Pete is local for me. He is unfortunately pretty slow on response to things, even on local phone calls. I have a call in to him, looking for some OS engine parts, and am still waiting for his response (2 weeks). I'm sure he won't rip you off, but I'm not sure how well he monitors his web page stuff. He is definitely a 'mom and pop' operation, and could use improvement in some areas.

I'll PM you with his cell #, as from what I've been told, that's the best way to get in touch.

I have done a fair amount of business with Pete and Sue and they are, indeed super folks. As has been stated several times in this thread, they make most of their living hitting events, so that may be the problem. I realize it has been a bit of time for you, however they will come through. When the mini-mac starters were all but impossible to find, Pete and Sue came through within a week for me. Just have some patience, because we are coming down to the end of the flying/event season and they are probably just busy and on the road.

Ditto what Wolfdad said.

I live in the Grand Rapids with Pete and Sue. They're both VERY fine people and VERY honest (I've spent a lot of time with them and have seen and received much generosity in return).

Give them the benefit of the doubt.

Wow. No kidding about Pete. I placed an order on 12/5 in hopes to get it by Christmas. No word on the status even after placing several phone calls and leaving several emails.

Nice guy or not, if he is trying to run a business he is doing a very poor job of it. I would accept a simple notice that he would be offline until such and such date. I cancelled my order and ordered from Ricks. Why would I ever try Pete again?

My credit card was charged and has yet to be credited. Based on everything I have read, Pete is an honorable man so there is nothing to worry about there. I ask again, why would I ever order from Pete again?

I'll be darned.

I just got home from work ony to discover that I received my order (greaser) from Pete's. Now I have two. Still irritated by the lack of communication about the whole transacton, but my second greaser, being the great product it is, should sell pretty easy.

Pete is certainly not out to rip anybody off so don't get that impression.

I agree that Pete and Sue are honest great folks having dealt with them many times.
But having said that there is no excuse when running a business to not respond to inquires and ship product out on a timely basis.
So many times we let our personal feeling for the individuals whom run the business to cloud our judgement as to what is acceptable.
scoyle does pose a good question in light of Pete's poor service in these cases." Why would I ever order from Pete again ? "

I've come to the same conclusion as others, even though he's in the same town - I won't try to deal with Pete's Hobbies, unless it is in person - i.e. at the local flying field, or at a fly in. Response via phone or web page is slow, if at all

I only ordered from this place because I wanted a greaser. Its been over a half month now and not seen or heard a thing. I could care less for these people and I negatively recommend them to anyone considering purchasing from them. How could anybody run a business like this. Hello...Its not hard to put a package in the mail. I do it all the time with my ebay items and I get it done by the next day. These people suck big time. Give me my order or give me my money is what I would say to them if they would ever answer the freaking phone or return my email. I guess my money is stuck in there account until they decide to get off there lazy ass and do something. Never again for me as you can probably tell by my tone. Hope this saves someone from wasting there time.
