| hmmmm..... just discovered that our US bretheren don't measure in quite the same way as or to the same precision as the rest of the world - here's silly old me complaining about the soft material that my Vigor CS 6mm start socket was made from because it wore out so quickly, when lo and behold I compared the new start socket with the old one to discover that the 6mm socket is really 6.1 mm.
It was explained to me thus by someone who should know these things 'That 6mm socket is really not a metric socket at all - it's the nearest US equivalent to 6mm' Thus socket and starter shaft are getting rounded off very quickly.
DOH!
Replaced it with a Raptor start socket of the correct size (and of considerably lesser price).
