Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > AVANT tail servo horn lenght???

As per titel, could any of you please let me know what horn lenght you used for the tail servo horn?

Any of you installed an OS on the AVANT? If so need the shroud to be cut? I had to cut the front part to make the engine head stick out a little bit u front, i hope it'll not have cooling problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The manual is clear about the horn length. I just followed the manual.

Just like the Hirobo Eagle and X Spec, you need to trim the shroud a lot. No cooling issues.

Hi Corrado,

Here's a picture of the tail servo installation. It uses the large disc at its largest diameter.

Augusto, do you need to reduce the 601 travel limits? I'm using the last hole on an 'X' horn with 120% limits both ways. Never tried the big wheel but thought you would need reduce below 100% due to bigger throw. Apparently the S9251 will last longer if the limits are 100% or more.

Are there any issues with the 'X' horn being strong enough? I've always used this & never had any problems. However a mate had his break once or twice & having his heli spin out of control (he prolly tightened it too much!)

Therefore the wheels would be safer? I did notice the 'X' horn flexing a bit when applying a bit of load to the rudder rod.

The X horns are plenty strong for the rudder application. Remember that unlike the case of your friend in the Avant it's used to drive the tail pitch not the main blades with its consequent larger loads.

About setting up the 601 travel limits it all depends on what you like as response is concerned. Setting the limits on the 601 will prevent it from binding and overheating the servo motor when trying try to pass the travel limit but it also "scales" the response down so it doesn't hold the constant piro rate as good when doing fast traveling piro maneuvers.
