Aerobatic FAI F3C Contest > F3C with a Gasser???

I have been thinking of start to flying F3C. I currently have a Predator Gasser.

Is this a bad idea?

I will only start in the sportsman.

I would think it would be OK for a sportsman class as the gassers I am familiar with are aerobatic. I think the extra weight that most gassers carry would make it pretty difficult to do the new 2006 F3C schedules which require a BOATLOAD of horsepower and light weight but for a sportsman class it should do very well.

Hi,

Is 5.3 HP on a 12,5 LB heli enought or do I need more power for the higher classes?

Hmmmm............

I have seen American pilots fly gassers in our Class III (one step before F3C) wth good success however, if they were competitive in F3C we would probably see some of them in competition aqt our Nationals or even at the WCs. I have yet to see a gasser do well against a 10 pound 91 powered fire breather. Heck, give it a try, you might be the first.

A gasser works well in the Sportsmans! Magnus, a swedish guy, used to fly a X-Cell gasser in the sportsmans with great results (altought, now he flies a YS powered Fury Tempest FAI).

I will try to fly next season with my Predator Gasser. I need to tweek the settings a bit and make it a bit lighter. I will get the enginee balanced and someone will make it stronger...

I have allready started to practice the monouvers.

New manouvers in the Sport program should come out soon (I hope), but it is a good idea to practise the old program in the mean time.
