Go with Lipo's. I use a Triton charger.

I have a Thunder Power 900 Mah lipo, and have been pleased with it.
I can't comment on how long flight time is, because I have crashed before the batt dies. I have heard however that about 15mins with sym blades for this pack.
I use a Duratrax Ice charger. It has alot of features on it. I got mine for $120.00U.S.

I use a Thunder Power 1320Mah Lipo & Vision Peak Ultra charger by Dynamite. Ive heard of flight times in the 25 minute range from other people using this size Lipo, but I usually limit mine to about 15 minutes to allow the motors & electronics to cool off...besides I usually need a beer by then!

If you upgrade to a Lipo you may also want to consider changing out the stock JST connector on the 4in1 for a Deans or a Powerpole connector

The TP1320 3s is great. I am also using a Polyquest 1100mah 3s - about $10 cheaper and also has balance tap. If you want to be sprigthly - the TP 730mah 3s is awesome - almost an ounce lighter - I fly all 3 of those batteries in my Blade with great results and no problems at all.

I use an Apache 2500 with an old CPU fan/heatsink combo attached for better cooling - it works great. I have over 500 charge cycles on that charger with over 10 different 2s and 3s batteries ranging from 600 to 4200mah - and never any false peak or failure to charge. It has also saved me on a few occasions - since it forces you to select cell count and will not charge if you get it wrong. It is a little safer than auto-cell count chargers....

Stealth916 since you are using a variety of LiPo's on your Blade could you pleae post your heli setup incluidng motor, pinion, blades, etc and the flight times of each different battery?

Also did you build the power supply yourself? I have a PC power supply sitting here doing nothing but each time I look at directions to convert it I get intimidated and decide not to. Did you happen to come across a easy to understand set of instructions. Please note I am not an electronic hobbyist, this would be a first electronic project for me.

Thanks.

Li &H20

Just since we are on the topic of Li-Po's and chargers, I just throught I would toss this out there for everybody to be aware of...

Litium and Water DO NOT get along well in any way shape or form... you mix Li and H20 and you get a BIG BANG! I recently saw somebody charging their Li-Po's in a crate of water bottles....

Consider, you do this, and your pack explodes... a couple of things are guna happen...
1. Your guna have half-molten Li flying through the air burning at 2500*C or so....
2. This burning Li is guna burn STRAIGHT through the water bottle's plastic
3. Water is guna come into direct contact with flaming Li already at 2500 and react even more violently

You basicly risk having a double explosion, once from the Li-Po blowing, and then again from the flaming Li reacting more violently with the watter thats surrounding it!

Just a consideration.... I would sugest using a few clay pots set on top of each other to surround the Li-Po while charging, and would NEVER place it surrounded by water... Li is oxidizing when it burns, it does the same thing when it contacts water, so burning+water=big problem...

Life isn't fair.. Luckly it's a game and cereal!
