e-E-Flite Blade CP mCX CX 400-3D > bending main shafts

I have a Honeybee Cp2 and she flies very well and I can fly reasonably (no 3d yet). The problem is that the most minor accident causes my main axis/shaft to bend - so I go through these things like crazy, even the blades are not damaged! The bend is so slight that it is barely noticible on glass but she vibrates like crazy. At first I thought it cant be the problem and balanced blades, corrected tracking, replaced everything else, but the only thing that stops the vibration is replacing the main shaft. Does anyone else have this problem and more importantly a solution, like a more durable one.

Are you really tightening your blades down or do you leave them just a touch loose? If you tighten your blades down too tight you will notice the helicopter tends to vibrate under the most minor circumstances. I tighten mine down so that if I hold the bird and tip it on its side with the blades horizontal they wont slide in the holders on their own with a little shake. That was a tip someone told me for a general guideline on how tight to make the blades.

zoobie, yes it's real easy to bend the main shafts. Sometimes in really minor crashes. A least you've got the CP2 where it's a separate part. I haven't found any stronger replacements. However, a few people have said they've been able to straighten out bent shafts with a hammer. I haven't tried that yet. I just keep 3 or 4 in my spare parts box.

Yeah, I think I have finally managed to straighten one by clamping it in a vice from as many directions as I can, but I think the solution is to have spares they are very cheap and take a minute or two to replace.

jeffjets, I think you are right on that one - it is a fine line between to tight and to loose, if it is to tight it will vibrate, to loose and it will never track properly. I have made that mistake a few times and stripped my heli trying to find the vibration - but forgetting the simple stuff

straightening stuff

I use a drill press to straighten stuff,

don't turn it on, just stick the piece in and rotate the quill by hand, easy to see the side to bend,,,,,,

items like the blade shaft, flip them end to end to check each end separately,,,,,,,,
