Vario Sky Fox - Benzin - Evolution - Xtreme > Vario Evolustion S Clutch liner

Anyone know what the part number for this? All I can find is complete setups. I had a brain fart and forgot to connect the ball link and by the time I figured it out (about 20 seconds) it burned up the clutch.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I'm not sure they sell the clutch liner by itself... for evolutions the part number for the clutch bell with liner and 23 tooth pinion is 64/33,
Hope that helps
About $45.00 at Moore's vario site

20 Seconds was pretty good

Andy,

three things I did right away...
Checked to make sure heli was on (Was on)

I tried to give full collective thinking the servo was reversed, didn't work.

Couldn't get to the fuel line to pull it off as the canopy covers this location

The trottle servo is hidden behind the tuned pipe and I was able to see from the top and pulled it back to kill the engine. Luckly the pipe was not hot yet!

Things go fast when you have a big ol Rossi running out of control!!!!

Heli_Gal,

Thanks for the info. I will pull it appart and make sure just the liner is damaged and call Joe at V-east next week.

Chris.
I just changed mine.. it's not that liner is gone. my original clutch bell is only 22 tooth 64/34 .. i stripped the plastic pinion... just replaced it with the metal one one.... as the matter of fact just tested it out today.. quite tight mind ya.. my engine kept running backward.... when i just got it right.. she goes.... starting to loosening up a bit now with this big rossi of mine.. what fuel and plug are you using?

Naomi,

I didn't strip the gear as when I give throttle it starts to turn the head but doesn't grip tight enough to get her (sorry call my heli's females because it reminds me of someone I'm married to )to swinging good.

I'm running a OS8 and Cool power 5%. That engine fired right up!

Oh yeah.. just found that on my list. Thanks Joe for the heads up.

Chris I am running 5% and was running OS#8.. do you have problem with burn plugs?.. i seemed to go through plugs like crazy... i am going to try A3. see how that would last.. Joe .. any input would be appreciated... what caused my rossi to blow plugs?

burn out

Well, now you can tell me how much power that Rossi has first hand?!! Blowing plugs can be from running the pipe too short, too much compression or aluminum floating around in the engine. Also, if you use a silicone base after run oil, it willl kill the plugs. Bob

My Rossi is 11.5CC.. putting out 3BHP. lots of power alright.. and i don't use silicon based after run oil .. i simply don't use any.. just ran the fuel out at the end of the day. as far as running the pipe to short.. i could try lengtened it at the teflon coupler.. it has lots of compression.

Plugs

I don't know yet. That was the first run of the engine for me. My local Vario field rep is using a enya 3 with a head shim and 10% nitro.

Now lets see if I can get that clutch out! The liner looks to be fine. I noticed when the engine was running and I was trying to shut it down there was not a LOT of pull on the head... I wonder if the liner just needs to be worked in a bit. Any ideas?

Running too hot will fry the plug, and too much compression. I am using three head shims, 10% nitro, and an Enya 4 plug. Runs real nice after only 6 tanks of fuel.

Joe , Naomi,

I think I found the problem. The set screws on the counter gear were loose, or backed out, causing no grip to the main shaft. I'm not possitive if this was caused by the engine out of control or by the original builder of the Heli. I tried to check everything when I got it but that is one thing that could be easily missed.

If this was fine to start with how often if ever will this same problem occur, the set screw backing out? I'm not one who would like to do a auto once I get a scale fuse on there!

20 seconds aint bad if the canopy covers the fuel line, I'm just used to my Raptor where it sits in full view

Andy,

I was just giving you a bad time. How ever I did count to 20 myself and I may have been a little off! That is a long time, it may have been in the 10.1 to 12.4 second range!

When you have a hot start, the quickest and easiest way to kill the motor is to block the exhaust.

hought about it

Alan,

I thought about that but was unsure how hot the exhaust was at that time. I did that with a friends OS 32 when he forgot to turn on his TX and I about burned my finger off! Things get hot fast!

Thanks for the tip though...
