I got 2. A 30 and a 50. Been a pretty good heli and has withstood several months of newbie abuse. It flies really well and the 3 crashes I've had have been inexpensive and no parts backordered.

Still flyin blind.......

Gohbee

I recently crashed mine but have ordered another.... I loved it, no problems. I think the clutch could be better but otherwise it is a great heli and cheap. The newer ones are susposed to be better as far as the clutch is concerned. I have a braand new hyper 50 just waiting for it.

I fly the Stinger 50 a lot.
I have burned 7 cases of fuel so far this year.
Yes you may say that I am biased because I am a Gohbee rep.
I bought flew and liked the Stinger for almost a year before I became a rep and liked it a lot the whole time (except for when I did a knife edge auto to knife edge landing. )
If it was not a good heli I would not have become a rep or recommend it to my friends.

My Stinger 50 is a lot more stable than my Raptor 50 SE in hover and fast forward flight and yet has a faster cyclic response than I can get out of my Raptor.

With the reduced repair cost over a Raptor, and thus reduced pucker factor my flying has been improving rapidly.

My Stinger 50 flies great. The only negative is the starter shaft, it needs to be dialed indicated. My runout was 6 thousands and it gave alot of vibes.

It's very well constructed and flies better than any other 50 I've had(Raptor, Raven, Evo).

I just got a Stinger 50 a couple weeks ago and I love it. It is fast and smoothe. Get one, you will be happy with it.

Stay away from them. Get a raptor 50. I just set one up for a guy and the clutch is no good after first flight. Dampners are weak also.

Moorecj98,
Have you contacted Gohbee about this?
I'll bet that you get a much better response that if you try to contact TT when a new clutch or any other part goes bad. All heli companies ocasionally have issues, its how they handle the issues that counts.
It only took TT 8 years to upgrade their dampers, Gohbee does have stiffer dampers available if that is what you want. They are called "On Edge" and are not an expensive upgrade.

Overall how does the quality of the Stinger compare to the Raptor, part for part?

Flyinfool you might be right on the response time but i have never had any raptor part fail. I have set up around 15 raptor 50's and three stingers and all the stingers have had issues on the first flight from maingears, dampners, clutches, washout pins coming out during flight.
It's just not up to raptor standards. I did take the clutch out of the stinger i just set up and about three needle bearings fell out. Just after a one minute flight. Since you are a rep can you tell me if you can use the TT clutch on the stinger 50?

I've had a Gohbee distributor rep come in to my shop trying to push their helicopters. He showed me a 30, 50, 60 and a 90 size. They all looked not very well made and the price wasn't much cheaper then the Raptors. I didn't get any because they are not well known and they don't look so good. They look like cheap Raptor knock offs.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I agree that they look like cheap raptor knock-offs....

BUT!!

I own a Gohbee Stinger 50Deluxe and it flies superb, better than a std. raptor. It's also lighter, cheaper, completely built (very well built, links were adjusted perfectly) & had a nice fiberglass canopy.

It flies just as good or better than my $1200 R50 with XeroG frames and all the upgrades one could buy
Most noticable are the fast cyclics, even with the heavy std. paddles the cyclics are faster than a R50 with V-paddles & unlike a raptor it doesn't tend to pitch up/down when flying it really fast.

The only upgrade I did were the new "on edge" dampers, for like $12 or something... they look/work almost the same as CX dampers for the R50 (which are 2x more expensive)

Anyway, I'm really impressed with this little bird... and for the same price as a std. raptor I'd say the Stinger 50Deluxe is a winner.

Cheers,

Richard

Don't know about there, but here they cost more then the Raptor 50. Retail prices should be around $1,000+ for the kit with an OS 50 Hyper and fiberglass canopy. Heck if I'm going to buy one to test it out.

On this side of the globe a Raptor 50 std. costs 335 euro & a Gohbee Stinger 50Deluxe also costs 335 euro.

Both are lowest prices, the price on the Raptor is from a neighbouring country (Belgium).

Rich

RR rules prohibit me from listing any prices.
But in the USA the Stinger is significantly less expensive than a Raptor.
I will admit that in some respects it does look cheaper than a Raptor and in other respects it looks better than a raptor.
But the proof is in the air, as others have mentioned, it flies great.
If someone hasn’t tried one they are not a credible source to comment on its flying qualities.

Since the Gohbee clutch can be put in a raptor I would imagine the reverse is true, although I have never tried it.

It looks the same to me... but I can't see why you would want to do that... That's just me

Gohbee vs. Evo

Anybody who owned both Evo50 and Gohbee50 please chime in your opinion in this discussion:

As someone that has owned and built both (I disassembled the ARF stinger kit - I never trust an ARF), I can tell you the Raptor and Evo are both a better heli than the Stinger. But, they also cost more - you get what you pay for. The materials and workmanship on the Stinger are of a lesser quality then the Raptor and Evo. The clutch would grab upon startup and never let go, was also difficult to line up freely in the bell. In flight, the head did not wow me, it worked - but no better than any other heli I have seen. People claim that the Raptor has this pitch up problem - that problem only exists in: a) a heli that is not setup properly (especially with the flybar paddles and linkages in the head) or b) where the elevator linkage has worn a bit and there is too much play in it (this happened to me and upon replacing the link and tightening everything up, it went away). Anyways, for the money, you get a good heli in the Stinger, but it doesnt match up with the Raptor or Evo.
