I can't believe it yet.

I did not exert that much pressure in the upper right corner and cracked the touch screen thin glass screen.

Anyone else had this happen; yet?

I've heard several similar instances ... "cracked screen", "used as much pressure as usual" ... How old is the radio? How long had you been using it when it cracked, i.e. was it the first time using it that day? Finger or stylus?

Stop complaining - they're cheap, just throw the Tx out, re-mortgage the house and go buy another one.

I fly Airtronics - always have, probably always will and BTW not the Stylus. The Futaba 9C series seems like a nice radio at a resonable price but I have no need for the 14MZ and do not want one in spite of what you might think and certainly do not need one. If I ever was given one or won one in a raffle (both situations are very unlikely) I would sell it asap.

14MZ

Shemp - that was actually funny.

The replacement will be 410.00 smackers for the screen.

Same pressure as I always used with soft part of finger ...

No remorse here have had it since they came out and happy with the versatility and eas of programming

Not happy with the eas of breakage on the screen.

Oh well I have a 10X and maybe the 9Z is looking better.

I like touch screens and I have two ATX radios with them but I can tell you that a screen with soft keys like the Stylus or 9Z is better for what we do at the field.

Can you use the softkeys under the screen to navigate the menus on the 14?

When ever I can I just use the buttons to do my tuning. I like the shine on the screen and try to keep it that way.

Cracked MZ

I can navigate with the buttons yes, and will do so until my $410.00 replacement comes in.

I am presuming that the reason it's so expensive is because its the complete front or close. I can't see the matrix itself being so much, but I could be wrong

Only those who can not afford to buy a 14MZ will say 'OUCH! that's getting really expensive'.

Why a 14MZ?

OK, besides the Microsoft OS, the pretty color screen and more channels than I can use, is there a tangible reason to justify buying a 14MZ?

I fly a 9C Super and I think it's pretty complete for what I need. I understand a 9Z has some additional features (more points in the curves, handles CCPM better, etc.), which could justify the 2x expense from the 9C to 9Z if I wanted those things.

But I'm looking at the $2200 price tag on a 14MZ and scratching my head. Other than good looks and an easy to use interface, what does it do that the others don't?

been there done that. fortunately mine was covered under warranty. I am careful not to adjust the gyro gain while spooled up now. adrenaline flow and touch screen make a bad combo. now I have the gain set on one of the sliders so I can adjust it on the fly without looking at or touching the screen.

and yes Terry you can navigate all of the menus without touching the screen at all. I found that out when I couldnt use the screen.

Why wouldn't the touch screen repair be covered under warranty? The radio has been out less than a year hasn't it?

14 mz

even at the price i'll still buy one, if you do your research it's look's to be the best out there. it offers more than any on the market. just because you can't aford one and he can, don't knock it. mistakes happen if you have been flying any time at all you've had mishaps too. some people money is not a factor. if you can't aford one don't buy one. you guy's know how the game is played. same diff between top fule and bracket racing you know what feild your in. if you read the info it has a calabration screen to set the touch sensitve screen anytime it seems to take any abnormal pressure you should re-calabrate. it also shows you where to press at on the screen to avoid a mis-hap like this! these are made by the same people that have been making computer screen's for awhile now for large auto mfg's like honda. good luck with your new screen,

Very poor grammar, syntax and punctuation.

BTW - Do you have access to my D+B rating? I didn't think so - so how would you know what I can and can't afford?
