I know I am not very good with RC helicopters as I have only been trying for a few weeks at best. I know a lot of people who cannot hover blame the craft, etc. I am not even worried about hovering. My problem is that I cannot seem to get any altitude but maybe an inch or two off of the ground.

I typically have to put the throttle almost at max before anything really starts to happen. To have any chance, I also have to trim the throttle to max. What follows is typically the craft rolling to the left or standing on its nose. I can control the tail pretty well and I compensate for the roll, fairly well. What doesn't make any sense is why it doesn't gain any altitude. Forget hovering, if the thing shot into the air some feet and crashed, I'd consider that a win.

It seems like, even if someone is horrible, they should be able to get altitude with the throttle. My weight and balance seems fine. The copter is stock with the "training wheels".

What could be going on here?

hang in there

When i purchased my third Blade new, it flew very well right out of the box, even with the stock battery.

My first two were used and took a lot of abuse, I started slding around on smooth concrete, and altitude at that point just made for worse crashes.

As I became more proficient at hover, I also became more into repair and what made the thing fly well.

Replacing parts allowed my knowledge of the terms and part names to grow too.

I can now hover tail in pretty well and outdoor flying is my new challenge.

FF seems a year away,,,,,,,,,,,,,

There have been reports of folks having trouble with the Blade flying "out of the box". TECH's suggestions are all good ones. Make sure your battery is well charged. Make sure if you have flat bottom blades, that they're mounted correctly. But most likely you don't have enough pitch on the main blades.

Look for the links that connect them to the flybars. Pop those links off and lengthen them by a turn or two and try again.

Good luck!

You also may still be suffering from the sticky collective syndrome. Check the site out here for the right fix for that. It just may not be getting past the "sticky" part

I helped a friend where he had the same problem. He crashed the heli by hitting the blades on the leg of a chair. He got everything back together and it would lift off a few feet and back down again using either one of his freshly charged batteries. I took his heli home and replaced the motor. I enjoyed flying it in my living room all night long.
We met at the flying field the next day and we made 2 flights on a somewhat windy day. He called me later that night and he said he crashed it again.

Thanks very much guys for the tips and advice. After reading Tech's email, I found the problem. It wasn't one of his suggestions, but one of his suggestions led me to the issue. The problem was that the flybar paddle was rotated a bit. Once I flattened that out, I was able to get altitude.

With that problem solved, now I just suck at hovering!

Thanks again!
