e-Ikarus Piccolo-Eco 8/16 > How powerful is your Eco 8 on 10 cells?

Mine bogs and does not pull out very strong. Im using cheap 3300's a HM 48-3, mega 22303h with a 15 t pinion. My HS is 1690-1710 at 100% gov with -/+ 10 pitch.

Do I have to go to lipos to get this thing read for solid Acro and inverts?

Bogging

I've got mine on 10 Sanyo race 2000's or GP3300's. Either pack work great. I get slight sagging of the HS in full climb but wouldn't call it as bad as bogging. I suggest better quality cells. Most cheap cells have a much higher internal resistance so when you try to pull decent amps from them the voltage drops away. Less volts = more amps and it's a vicious circle. You shouldn't get bogging from the Mega. It's got more power than the Axi2814/10 than I use. Have you tried a bigger pinion and then run the regulator at say 90% power giving the ESC a chance to add power in a climb. Just a thought as I run a standard Jeti 40-3p with no regulator and a normal throttle curve. Better quality cells is the answer I think. Cheap normally=crap

Eco8, 10cells. Axi2814/10. 22tooth pinion. Jeti 40-3p

I agree...

I know these cells are crap becuase they heat up to easy. Any one know where I can get some good cells but not spend $5 each? I Have to spend a lot for round cells I may just buy the lipo packs.

if i was you id go lipos as you be increasing capacity and power with a lot less weight

Get some LiPolys,$200 and you have double the capacity and a lot less wieght.I can not even begin to explain how happy I was when I took out my 10 cell NiMis and flew with the LiPos.You'll never buy another round cell again.

SRC you must have all the xtra stuff on that ECO 8, I did not think they could handle that head speed, but ya know not surprised. This is a fun heli but all the hi-tech stuff sure is spendy.

1900.....?

I had a 16 on it and it was spining 1800+ on a stock head. I dont want to go with the metal head.

AH, Your right,1900 might be a bit high for a stock head. I run 2000 under load, but I have every upgrade available.

Stock head can handle it, no problem. I'm using sanyo race cells for cheap. Not huge capaciy but they are ok with power. On ten cells mine goes like a rocket.

Holy Sh.........

I got some Zapped Ultra 3400's, put together a pack and charge it for 10 mins. It was no where near charged. I just upped the volts from 12v. The volts were high @ just under 14 volts

I put it in to see if I could see a difference and on that little charge the HS was so fast It sounded like I was going throw a blade off. The heli started dancing around ready to leap off the ground at less than my hover point. So it was those cheap cells

These cells were like 3.50. and zapping is free. and I got them in 2 days

I have to tune up the heli to work with these cells. i will let you know how they work in flight.

Eco8 NiCd acro/invert

Hi,
I still have cheap 10 x Sanyo 1700SCR in my Eco8 and even with it I am capable to turn repeated loops at place, rolls and I could maintian stable inverted hovering. I have tryied LiPo as well and it is clear that it is better, but the answer is yes, even with NiCd it is capable to fly acro. (but just for four minutes per pack + 20 secs for start/landing).

... but don't expect that the machine out of the box could fly invert - check my config at Eco8 mods

best regards
Pavel
