Bergen R/C Helicopters > Anybody have the Bergen industrial twin?

I have a camera ship and would like to be able to lift even more than camera stuff. Last week I did and exhibition for the state patrol and was contacted today by the county Sheriff to do another exhibition. What I want to do is show other uses other than just taking pictures of crime and accident scenes. I have come up with the idea of being able to transport objects that could be dropped at will to someone you eather can't or don't want to get near. such as a cell phone, life jacket, hand line, first aid kit or what ever. the 23cc has pretty good power but not enough to do stuff like this with out the chance of getting into trouble of being under powered. Just wanted some input on the lifting capabilities. thanks

info and idea....

I just talked with a guy who flies Industrials for a university's flying robotics team, he says they carry around 20 pounds.

And you got me thinking about putting RC helis to use. For example, I wonder what it would take to make RC helis compete with full-scale helis for search-and-rescue. High-powered RC and wireless video transmitters might make it possible to launch a handful of RPV helis at less cost than a single full-scale aircraft... could you cover more land in less time?

Just email Larry Bergen at Bergenrc.com to get all the info you need. I was one on display at IRCHA, but I didn't ask any questions.

Nice looking bird but.....

At 4.5 hp that's not very efficient for a 42cc engine.I would have to have one of of those desert eagle engines at I think 9hp!Mo-power!!!

What was the price of that again, $40,000.00 for the basic model?

The basic equiped model (not the automous package) from conversations I had with the fellow who is supposed to be responsible for it in the US (US Yamaha Robotics) tells me its about $80,000. NASA has 2 of em by the way, as well as a couple of universities in California. This was back in early June. They were supposed to have sent me a promo package. I have not recieved anything to date, nor any further info.
And by the way, this is not a toy. It must be registered just like a full scale aircraft. There are regulations regarding where and how it is operated. I am in Canada and researched the topic here. Other than having safety people at location and means of communication. Transport authorities must be notified in advance in writing (fax or email) as to where, what & when. Who are the contact people on location. Emergency numbers to be at hand ect. It doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. I am certain if it is used for emergency/rescue/police use certain criteria could be flexed. The only disadvantage I see is getting thru the government buracacy. Is the Amercian government more efficient than the Canadian government. lol.

Well so far i see 1 reply about a guy who flies Industrials for a university's flying robotics team. I would think there would be some others out there? Just wanted to get a feel from people who are flying one. If I have it my way heli's are going to be used for a lot more than just play. At least by doing stuff for emergency services it should help bring some credibility to our hobby. And that should really make the plankers cringe with jealousy. hehehehehe

Sucks to be you!!

In America we have restrictions just like we have on our models but the 246cc displace ment falls well below the registration allowance and does not have to be licensed. It goes by weight and i believe displacement. You can build a two person personal helicopter and not have to register or even license and they are a bit bigger than the helis mentioned here.I could be wrong, BUT I DOUBT IT........
