Latest news on the 600 EP!

Team TT Jeff Swartz and I got a chance to fly the 600 EP at an all electric event held in Hubbard Ohio this past weekend.

The machine is awsome!!

Many people were impressed with the vertical performance as compared to a similar sized glow machine.

When we took the 600 up, almost everyone landed to watch.

The 600 performs manuevers as well as the glow counterpart (except a whole bunch smoother) which includes perfectly axial rolls, tic-tocs, and of course my favorite, drag racing.

It is so kewl to finally have the center of gravity in the correct position. Having the battery near the center line of the machine, and the motor on top really makes this thing fly nice.

More pics will be in my gallery soon.

As far as power performance, it is Absolutely awsome!!

Not since Brett Moorer and Bruce Bennett built drag motors for me have I seen this kind of performance.

My best guess for the outstanding performance is the low weight. This heli is 1 1/2 lbs lighter than the glow or the "box" conversion model, and that is without making a real effort to make it light.

The machine I was flying had a Fury Swashplate, stock landing gear and a stock plastic head from an R-50.

I fly both the "box version" and the 600 EP, there is very little comparison. The 600 EP out performs the heavier model with ease, but both are much better than the old "bolt the hacker motor in" using a Raptor 60 spur gear! Lighter also.

My setup;
Neu 1515/2Y
Jazz speed control (55-10-32) in one and a Schultze 32.55 in the other.
Both seem to perform well.
10S2P TT packs

Can't wait for the actual production model.

More Information

People have been asking "what does it weigh?"

Ck this out!!

This is the heli with a receiver battery pack, minus the canopy and battery.

I have some more lightening to do yet.

Also, here is the absolute max current I was able to pull during a climbing Tic-Toc!

Normal fly around current is in the 25-38 Amp range.

Oh! One other thing.

Looks like the best place to get one early is at Real Raptors!

A Gentlemen by the name of Andy is taking pre-orders, according to his web site.

I ordered my motor and speed control from them and had it in less than a week! - Outstanding service!

XeroG 600E released 1st September!

600EP blades

Can I run 620 blades on my 600 EP without changing anything?

You can run 620mm blades, but you need the Titan boom and belt

Xero G - 600ep

Sold the Furys and bought 2 Xero G 600ep kits. Let me tell you. I will not miss nitro at all. This heli has more power than a 90 sized machine and no smoke, no mess, no motor tuning and no flight box with starter batter, battery, fuel pump, etc.

I thought about Trex 600 and new TT Eraptor, but none of them have the ability to use different motors(inrunners), battery setups and gear ratios like the 600ep.

It may cost a little more, but well worth every penny.

you may have to explain how the new eraptor 620se can't use different motors and battery setups. I think it can handle the battery setups fine... Is the the eraptor 620se's motor mount setup limiting in width and or height? thanks.

limitations

When I said they could not use a wide array of motor and battery setups that was a general statement, not specific to both machines in both instances. I don't think either machine can run an inrunner setup with a gearbox and I'm sure the Trex 600 battery position will limit the use of larger MAH packs.

I would like to see better pics of the tt frame. Your probably right about not being able to run the box.

The box

The box is actually a better setup than running outrunners, because outrunners are not designed for high rpm setups, so there life in this type of application can be short. The box is awesome once you get it setup and gears never wear.

In addition the Xero G frame configuration puts all the weight around the tail boom axis, with the batteries just below and the motor, box and radio gear just above. This makes the machine just as happy right side up as it is upside down, and it rotates phenomemally. The Trex 600 is pretty centered, as well, but not like the Xero G.

I am just a newbie when it comes to all of this so take this with the appropriate grain of salt.

The actro 24-4 (airplane version) may not be the best setup for any heli whether or not it is a heli or airplane version. But, it has worked very well for me and I do have another raptor XeroG (cf nitro frame set) setup that we had a box on with the hacker c50. For now, my preference is to stick with the outrunner until such time that extreme performance is required. My setup runs much cooler, is lighter and I feel is it more efficient than adding an extra gear set. I am only using a headspeed of 1960-1940 for now and the heli is a pleasure to fly. There is more headspeed available but I have not bothered to see what it maxxed out at. I feel sure that if you put my heli next to a 600ep, there would be a noticable difference in performance. I just don't think I could take advantage of it for now. If I was not having problems with the XeroG heli, I would most definitely have a more positive attitude toward the product. As it is, it has only flown two or three times and we are very unsure of it's reliability. Now if I could just get a little help on fixing the problem, we could enjoy flying it and comparing it to the plastic frame raptor.

Xero G?

What type of problems are you having with the xero G setup?
Do you have an electric motor in it?

Your 600ep looks great!

I received this XeroG frame used but in good condition. As I am new at the Helicoptor thing when I first saw the add for it I just assumed it was the 600ep setup. I found out later that is was the XeroG carbon frame setup for the 50 size nitro Raptor. We bought a Box and a C50-15xl that we planned to run on 9s-2p of TP-2100 packs. We had a good friend cut us some spacer plates to mount the motor/box underneath where the nitro engine would normally be. All that worked great. We found places to velcro strap the 6 batteries on and took the thing out for a spinnup. The Helicoptor worked just fine unless you took the head speed above approx. 1750 rpm. After that the head started to shake. Since the setup was used we just assumed that it had been crashed at some point and maybe something was bent. The swash bearing had a little play also so we bought a new V-2 Raptor 50 swash and put the 120 degree ccpm ring on it. It had a stock plastic head so we bought a new metal TT head. We also bought and installed a new main shaft, a new feathering shaft and new main bearings. When we spooled it up again it seemed to do a little better but it started to shake violently at approx 1900 rpm. We felt lucky that it did not break apart after watching it dance... The only things that have not been changed are the links, mixing arms and the servos (DS811's in there now.) We tried different main blades that were working fine on my Raptor before and got the same results. I don't really know what else to try but there must be some reason for the head shakes...

My stock plastic raptor has done so well from day one that this thing really seems like a waste of time. Its one good feature is that it looks neat. Now if it could only be taught to behave!

Wow!

That's a new one for me. I have no experience with the Xero G 50 nitro frames and electric conversion, although I have seen and heard of several people that have done well with that setup.

Since the vibation starts at higher rpm I would think that it is head or motor mount related. To eliminate the possibility of it being head related, take the entire head off that heli and put it on your other Raptor. This is simple and quick, just duplicate the rod settings and transfer it over. Once we have eliminated the possibility of head issues, we can focus on the motor mounting method.

Can you take pics of your motor mounting method and post them or send them to me. I will PM you my email address, but i'd like to do this publicly, in case anyone else is having a similar problem.

The heli is at my brothers house right now (as it is his whenever we get it going...) or I would post a pic now. My raptor has the plastic head still and I bought a second metal head for it so I will switch his whole setup including main shaft over to mine and see what happens. Then I'll put the new metal head on mine. As soon as I can, I will post pic's of the setup.
