This is true.
One of the main reasons that Gohbee's prices are low is that they sell direct and avoid all of the extra markup from the distributors and dealers.
Sure Gohbee could sell thru GP and it would be $400 or $500 for a 30 or a 50 kit. Would that make it a better quality kit?

Does Gohbee manufacture helicopters?

If not what are they? A distrubutor?

Either way, as long as they produce a decent product, make replacement parts readily available and stand behind the product with timely technical support than it's a good thing.

Also product improvement is nice.

Typically some of these traits suffer in the cost cutting.

The Trex for example. I have a couple. It's got some major issues with quality and design. It's a piece of junk in my honest opinion from the hardware (soft screws that strip) to the swash design and the fact that the canopy doesn't fit. The nice thing is parts are easy to get and cheap except for aftermarket upgrades.

Jeff I'm waiting for the 90! I got a cspec waiting to be broken in.

BTW, hootowl good luck with the tiger. My bro's tiger decided it didn't like it's tail blades and threw one at him on spool up. It was hilarious! This is after dealing with the 5mm playdoh start shaft. We were disapointed with it and he sold to get a evo.

I'm running a 6mm spindle and JR tail setup. Also running QuickUK swash and mixer arms.

I like the Tiger because its really a tough bird except for few and far between issues that they all have.

They all need a certain amount of durability upgrades from the getgo when you only pay $300 to start.

i know nothing about stingers?

well you are right. flyin fool..all i know is what i am told. and i am told that they are cheap copies of an already cheap helicopter. that has nothing to do with performance. a raptor flies extremely well...but it is still a cheaply made heli. i was simply stating that if you want a heli that flies good for no $$ then get a blade cp. it is a cheap heli that flies good for what it is. a raptor is also a cheap heli that flies good. a stinger is just an even cheaper pile that flies good. but, i dont nessesarily like cheap crap...so ill get a fury!! and i was talking to the other guy who said you get what you pay for...implying that cheap helis are junk....I thought it was ironic that he flew a tiger 50...another pile-o-junk...flyinfool..good luck promoting a cheap copy of a cheap heli!!! i would take my rep experience somewhere else and try to get a job promoting something worth owning!!!!

That is where you are very misinformed by whomever told you that the Gohbees are just a cheap copy of a raptor.
There are a number of parts that are interchangeable between a raptor and a stinger. even though the parts are interchangeable they are still different.
For instance, the frames of the stinger do not need the carbon stiffener that a raptor uses because they are stiffer to begin with. The stinger frame with no stiffener, is stiffer than a raptor with the carbon stiffener.
yes the mounting points and key dimensions are the same for interchangeability but there are still many differences.
This same theme applies to many of the parts in the heli.

The head is completely different from a raptor with no interchangeable parts.
The head is really the main thing that gives a heli its flight characteristics.
If you read the posts of people that own both you will find that most people find the Stinger flight characteristic to be superior to a Raptor.
Ignore the posts of those that have never owned, flown, or even seen a Stinger, They obiously do not and can not know what they are talking about.

The stingers could be looked at as inexpensive UPGRADES for a raptor.

You can't win really. If you go higher quality it costs too much to buy, maintain and bring back after a crash.

We are the junk calling the junk, junk

I would rather crash a cheapy. They help keep me in the hobby.

I plan on getting a stinger 90 as soon as they come out. You are more than welcome to come to my clubs fun-fly in the summer and see that throwing money at expensive heli is not going to make you better flyer. I would have gone broke learning inverted auto's with an MA. I love raptors. Fully capable heli for 3d, never had a problem, and I beat the snot out of them 3x a week. I remember when the raptor 1st hit the market everyone called it cheap crap. Look at the market and where the sport is now. If the raptor could not hold it's own with the emergence of hard 3d it would have faded away. My point is this, a cheaper heli that solves some problems of the "top dog" will be a success, hence my choice in the stinger 90. Jeff, get me a stinger so I can post some video!

Well said Hootowl!

cheap crap

well all that being said...i was only picking at hootowl for saying you get what you payfor when he flies a tiger. it was all in fun. raptors are cheap and so are stingers. period. they are not the quality of a stratus or an extreme and they will not outfly a stratus or an extreme. that being said i will probably get a cheap piece-o-crap like a raptor as my next heli. i do think that they fly very well, especially for the money savings. i like hot rod mustangs. they are the car equivalent to a raptor...a cheaply made hot rod. i still like raptors and stingers. that dont change the fact that they are ugly, cheaply made helis that perform great. i will probably own a few raptors and possibly stingers..but i will still admit thaat they are of less quality that a fury.

Bringing up the fury is a whole different can of worms that I will not get into at this time.
I do have to agree that the Stinger, Raptor and Tiger are ugly.
But then anything become beautiful while cavorting about the sky.

The new Stinger 60 and 90 actually do not share many parts at all with a raptor 60/90.

It was originaly going to, and there are still some parts, mostly in the frames and radio mount.
With the belt drive tail and all metal open tailbox and completely different all metal head the similar parts count is way down.

There will at some point in the next couple of months be a conversion kit to bring the raptors up to a belt drive tail.

I just finished building the first Stinger 90 production kit and flew it this weekend.

Nice.

As soon as I finish my evaluation there is a warehouse full of kits ready to ship.

Hey Scott,

I am putting my 90 together as we speak. Their is not a muffler included in the kit, although Gohbee does carry mufflers that you can add to the kit for additional funds. This is a good looking Heli. I am looking forward to getting it in the air next weekend.
