JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Digital Servo/G550T Chatter Normal?

Why would my G550T cause my servo's( DS811) to chatter? I tried four different receivers/locations/wire isolation and to no avail.....slight chatter. Maybe digi's do this normally?

The set up is in my new Venture /8103.

Thanks for any info!

I was kinda hoping that someone would say something like that! Never flew digitals before, so I was knida worried.

Thanks!

Servo chatter 550 gyro

I had the same problem. I put a 550 gyro on my Nexus with the 8417 digital servo and all my other servos started to pick-up noise. I swapped the servo out and put a Futaba 9402 high speed servo in and the servo chatter quieted down some.

I would not recommend flying with that servo chatter.

In my opinion the JR 550 gyro requires PCM to run, just like JR's 5000 gryo. The high frame rate of the gyro's and digital servos throw out to much EMF.

I ended up putting a 401/9253 combo in and never looked back. I wasn't about to spring for PCM on my Nexus. I'll save the 550 and PCM for my 60 size machines.....

Chatter?

Guys are we talking about the minor buzz of digital or a visible movement of the servo horn????

All digis chatter to some extent. If you run PPM you will notice it more than PCM but the buzz is normal. But if you are talking about a control surface "fluttering".....well, you got some issues.

550 and servo chatter

Lift,

I'm talking "visible movement of the servo horn". And not just the tail servo. EVERY servo on my heli was wiggling around.

Yes, my digital servo make some noise (a buzzing sound) and flutters a little bit, which as you stated is normal.

But when I installed a JR 550 gyro w/8417 digital servo, everything on my heli started to chatter. It was to bad to fly until I upgraded to the 401/9253 combo.

Thankyou guys,

Tvoydon, you hit it on the spot! I hook up tail servo, and all servo's start to move , not just "hum..." but actual movement. I disconect, and the servo's just hum .
So, thanks to you guys, I know not to use this Gyro with my "all" J.R. brand new system. The Gyro states that it can be used with all servo's, digi's and regular etc... I love J.R. but, I must admit, I am disapointed. with them.
Also, I am glad to know that it is normal for Digi's to make a little noise.

I was thinking that my gain might have been too high or something, I don't know, first time with digital's and heading hold gyro, so I was hoping for a set-up mistake, or something which I did not know.....

So I thank you all, any more idea's or suggestions appreciated, but I will probably order a different gyro. Any good ones out there (J.R) with heading hold?

Thanks!

I agree totally

I thought I would stick with JR all around to make life easier. But after the gyro problems I've had, it pushed me back into the Futaba arena.
Overall I have not been very happy with JR electronics.

Correction: someone told me they tried a PCM recv in a JR gyro and still had noise problems. I have two 550s sitting on the bench and had hoped to use them in my 60 machines and run PCM.

I may try a ferrite magnet around the servo wire....

I have a Futaba 9253 digital servo with a CSM 400 HH gyro. Everyone is correct in saying that Digitals constantly buzz. The servo arm on the 9253 chatters slightly when the Heli is stationary.

DIGITALS BUZZ...

every bird ive seen w/ digitals buzz, and more so if your not pcm.

I have the 550 w/4735 and 811s on the rest. The 811s mellow after the voltage drops a bit (my 4.8 puts out@ 5.8 when fresh(and it does NOT like a 6.0 and neither do Futaballs, it will fry your tail servo)

the 4735 does as well tho not nearly as much. I had an older used 2700g at first, LOUD it was, didn't last long either.

to be honest, i think the 550 would be better of on a larger bird. On my 30 the gain is set sooo low...
