Silly question and i know i may get some stick...How come they can fly at the 3DM so close to public space behind trees and houses..Those houses are never 500yds away..the requirement for UK flying

The field in the centre is the one used for 3DM.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=52...11721&t=k&hl=en

There is the - BMFA recommended - 100m from buildings/etc in all directions of the field. The only exception is the sports pitch on the west side which may be occasionally overflown, but I believe the organisers are aware of this and ensured that it is not in use during the event. I guess this is why they restricted flying to the bottom end of the field on Friday.

Thanks for that,it just seemed in some vids i have seen that houses are real close,my club has had trouble locating a new site and we were led to believe that its a 500yds radius reqd..i will check on that..Thats the reason for my enquiry....

This isn't a club though, it's an organised display/competition. Normal rules probably don't apply.

Your not wrong... those lads are real hungry for the title and its your job to keep em keen

2005 was the best flying standard to date across the board! I am already looking forward to 2006 and I reckon it gonna be even more intense... the heat is one eh

I've got to agree with RussD, the standard is higher than last year, some of those moves just how do judge each pilot. Set maneuvers I can see but the free style stuff, speed, accuracy, consistency and the ages of the pilots - this hobby is getting more and more popular, come to think of it wasn't there a lot more spectators there on the Saturday than last year?
