Hi Everybody,

I am a new guy to helicopter world and I just love it. I bought a Nexus 30 not long ago and pratice as hard as I can. Just wondering, is Nexus 30 capable to set up for 3D?

3d nexus

Not very. It will do loops and rolls if you are careful. It is great for learning nose in. better a 200 dollar heli than a 1000 dollar one. Also I like to fly mine for relaxing. With a nexus who cares if it crashes. parts are cheap and available for the time being so have fun with it and when ready buy something better.

not really......

It's good for what it's designed for and that's training. You 'could' upgrade it if you really wanted to but by then you'd have spent enough to get a Sceadu which is 3D capapble right out of the box. Stock, the Nexus doesn't have enough pitch travel, the linkages are sloppy, you need a bit more power on the engine, there are no thrust bearings in the mainn rotor head..... I could go on but you see the point. Fly the **** out of your Nexus. Learn basic aerobatics THEN get yourself a machine that's capable (and designed) to do 3D.

Beleive me I know of what I speak. Been there, done that.

the tail rotor is the first place . the fastest servo, i useing a g2700 jr on one. and a ds8417 on the other.. KSJ paddels on the flybar. the back hole to start with. then you can move it forward later. make sure that everything is tight all the ball links. replace them if need be. i am putting rocket city as i replace them.they seam to holed up better.. 515 NHP blades or 520 will do as well.. get the head speed up to 1700 to 1900.. Remove the baffel from inside the muffler. get a metal swach plate. i not home right now or would give you the numbers.. i will return next week. so you can ask again then burn fuel

I just sold my Nexus 30 (sad to see it go, but it was collecting dust)

I had NHP Razor 530's, KSJ paddles, and a LOT of upgraded parts on it, and it turned out to be one heck of a smooth machine. I am not into 3d flight yet, but it'd do inside/outside loops, stationary flips, rolls, stall turns, etc... It was a fun ship. It was just a little less quick as my Rappy 30, but still a nice ship.

Upgrades:
Concept VR swashplate (has metal balls rather than plastic ones)
Concept pitch slider for main collective
Pitch slider bearings
NHP Razor Pro 530 carbons
KSJ paddles
Helimax one piece muffler
Helimax hardened main shaft and hardened spindles
Tail mount tail servo
carbon tailboom braces
Helimax Turbo fan
(keep some washout assemblies handy.. they get sloppy fast on this bird.. which will do funny thing to you in flight)
30% fuel if you aren't running it already (I use Wildcat, but that's a personal preference)

All parts were from TowerHobbies.com ... if you look at the Nexus there, it'll list off parts to make it a DX version.... I got everything EXCEPT the flapping head stuff. When you click on a part, pay attention to the description. It'll tell you the other parts that one requires.

All in all, for the price of upgrades, you can buy a Raptor 30 from the start along with a couple little upgrades. IMO...

Hope this helped a bit

Thanks for the help! Also auto questions.

You guys rock!

Thanks for all of the help. I am not going to spend more money on my nexus but sure I will keep it to do pratice and buy a 3D heli when I am ready. Today I finally flew my Nexus to the air instead of hovering around. At first I kind of scared but once it got going, just like fly a airplane. I really felt the joy and freedom when I fly it around. I flew left circle, right circle, tail-in forward, tail-in backward, nose-in hovering, nose-in forward, even try a little auto....scared but was fun. Next I am going to pratice auto.

Question:
I know that when I do the auto, I have no control of the tail, what should I do? Will tail move all over the place and make heli uncontrolable? Or I should try to fly it forward to the wind? Will tail stay?

Re auto: fly into the wind and hit the switch. Weather vaning will keep your tail straight and allow you to concentrate on getting used to the collective.
