Thanks for the extra work Mark. I sure would have been happy to be there with you. I have caught wind of a few debut items I wish I would have been able to see there. Anyway best of luck thanks for the extra mile and God willing get some flight time in.

Maybe so, but I got him the number. I spent my dime calling from MO to Muncie, IN. I called Holiday Inn express, they didn't have T1. I asked who does in your area - BINGO they gave me the number to the Pittenger Center and I personally called to make sure they did have T1 available. And yes, I was glad to help out in a positive manner.

Harsh in my reply, maybe so. Was my reply helpful - yes. Your replies -not helpful. My point being, if we all spent less time rallying troops for battle and more time trying to find a solution, we would be that much further ahead.

That is ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS!!!!
WHAT in the FREAKING WORLD could AMA be doing that would clog their T1 so much that photos cant be uploaded!?!?!?!?! We have a T1 at my university and I hope this is ok to say.... We college students download extremely large files around the clock and still get insane speeds. Compared to the files we download a few photos are NOTHING. I think you should fight this Mark... that is retarded of them. Thats all...just completely retarded....

"Wahh...you fly helis... we cant let you use our big expensive T1 line.... *sucks thumb*"

Anyway, I'm glad it worked out for you! I am a newbie and im going off to college friday so unfortunately I wont be able to go! One of these days though!!!

I'm pissed!

Firstly: for the fols who are ragging on mark about the site, you guys are demonstrating your ignorance and stupidity. He provides something for the heli folks that is NO WHERE else on the web. Yeah I know there are a few other R/C sites, but lets be honest here, they suck , and we all know it, that's why were here. As fas as mark making money on this site, I'd be willing to bet that so far, he has lost a lot of money. Right now, hosting websites on the web is not a money making proposition(except for porn). It is expensive, and I seriously doubt that he can be showing a profit. And as Far as the AMA not letting him use their T1 line, that the biggest load of bovine scautology that i've heard. Don't feed me crap about oh, they might have to give him a network login.....blah blah blah, those are a bunch of weak excuses to me. there are about 60 different ways to connect him safely. I know, I have been a Sys-admin for over 10 years. He could be allowed to use a dhcp non-domain connection to allow internet access, where he could have emailed the damn photos to them from the outside thus going through their firewall/security. (Assuming that they are even smart enough to have any) I am tired of people who defend the AMA. the AMA was started as a good idea, but it has gone very very wrong. they are now in it for the cash, and not for the benefit of the hobby. The AMA needs to be killed as an orginization, and it needs to be rebuilt from the ground up by hobbyists for hobbyists. It makes me very very sad what the AMA has come to.

Hello Mark,

Good work on getting accomodations that have access. There's a whole lot of us who for obvious reasons can't be there since I'm half a world away from Muncie (literally).

If it didn't pan out, I would've suggested as a last ditch effort you look for a wi-fi lan card, connect it to a pringles can and you can war-drive for a connection

Quit your crying...

I am not a big fan of the AMA but the last time I checked, the AMA was not in the business of providing access to networks, let alone their own!!

I would have to agree that it would have been very nice of them to provide the connection for Mark. But come on, get a clue. Like they have someone sitting around that first of all "wants to" or "has time to" upload photos for some stranger who is a heli fanatic. That is a lot of trouble to go through, especially when I am sure they have access restrictions (access rules they have to follow) just like anybody else does.

I wouldn't let my own mother have access to our network. Even if did want to, I don't have the ability to because most companies have very strict policies concerning access to the network. And I wouldn't want to risk something going wrong and our network being down. But I am sure that if something did go wrong and AMA's network was shut down, you would then bitch about having to pay dues when AMA couldn't even keep their network up.

I think it worked out good for Mark, he went out and got his OWN connection with the help of some guys on here. That way, he can provide all the pictures he wants over the web and not have to fool with access to another company's network.

Can't wait to see the pics and Thanks Mark!

Hey Mark, read through the post and past all the politcal garbage and I am glad to here that you've got a T1 connection. But I have a question for yah. Would you be willing to take the pictures I take and upload them with your photos. I don't mind them not being on my own site. Just want to share the experience with everyone else.

If so, I will try and find you at the feild on Friday and we can figure something out. My laptop doesn't have a burner so we would have to do a transfer at the feild.

Thanks

If a hotel doesn't worry about an internet connection then why shouldn't the AMA provide to business' (hobby) a connection especially when "all" of us are paying dues so that they have internet. AMA is turning into the "big" business and taking money, how long before they have the govenment "involved" . This would help AMA, more publicity more members = more money for them. It's just heli's, the old not open minded plane flyers would even feel more threatend by that and I know all plankers don't feel that way it just works out that way.

Hey I got a reply from Greg Minch at AMA:

I'm just the guy that makes things work. I don't set policy or decide what services to offer. So I can't make an exception. I don't have the authority. Oh well, front line always takes the heat.

Greg

I know it's a moot point now, but at least they replied!

Phil_Fuser, you might have saved the day, but what an aweful way to help out huh? Why did you help out anyways? It seems like you were soooo put off by helping. Mark didn't ask you to spend a single dime to find out, but you did. So, I guess there is some kindness in your heart, but you made sure to cover it up pretty well. Help out and whine about it, good show.

I'd sacrafice that terrible magazine they send for him use their T1 connection. Maybe I could send it back to them so they can burn it for heat this winter. Maybe they will keep the dues down if I do. In regards to dues, I wish they would allow the option of just insurance etc and lower the cost if you do not want their rag which contains almost no heli stuff.

"Bidness is Bidness"

PPPPPP........

Most businesses do understand that:
"Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance
.I think if Mark /RR presented itself,or made a request for access within a reasonable amount of time before arriving at IRCHA,to the AMA, as a hobby support business, they probably could have done some wheeling and dealing to make it all happen....
AMA wins on this one...........
just my 2 cents......
Anyhow, have fun while your there!
